Let's talk about pregnancy length
Added 2022-05-19 23:04:33 +0000 UTCOne of the main reasons I set the game to be 4 seasons of 28 days instead of following the real world calendar is so that players could see and experience more of Sammy's overall life. Summers and Winters will pass, and with that, so will seasonal content. Things such as Summer parties on the beach, Winter market festivals and seasonal holidays. Along with that, I did it so that pregnancy would have more meaning and you will get to see the entire duration of the pregnancy cycle.
While I will always try to allow as much content and unique events be available while pregnant, there will always be cases where the player is locked out of content because of it. The Haven mission being a prime example as it's not a mission I can realistically allow Sammy to go on. Not just for story reasons but also art reasons as well.

It has got me thinking that having a much shorter term might be more fun for the player. Real world logic dictates it should be 3 seasons, but there is nothing saying I need to follow real world logic if it comes at the cost of players enjoyment. It being shorter could mean it doesn't outstay its welcome and you get to see the full cycle of NPC's as well.
Well, I guess my question is. Should pregnancy length me more real world or more fun length?

Three seasons sounds about right (3 trimesters). If the pregnancy cycle is too short it removes the 'penalty' of being careless. Plus the new mechanics for birth control can help resolve the 'problem'
