Sneak Peek - Lothburgh: Investigator's Office / Streets

Hey everyone and happy Sneak Peek Thursday! Today, I'm very excited to announce a new project I've taken on in partnership with Lunch Break Heroes. After the successful launch of the Librus Nocturum Dark Horror adventure anthology (Which I did most of the maps for), LBH has been working hard on their new 5e setting, Lothburgh.

I've been playtesting this setting with LBH for nearly a year now, and I can personally attest to how much fun I've been having! It's a refreshing change from traditional Medieval settings. It takes place in the heavily Victorian / Gothic-inspired city of Lothburgh, where each borough is vastly different. For example, the industrial, soot-covered, muddy streets of New Ashes or the opulent, lavishly decorated Milleatte, where the rich and the privileged live.

A clockwork police force watches over the streets called the clockwork constables, and though electricity exists, it is widely uncontrolled and mistrusted.

Your players assume the role of a private investigation agency solving mysteries, crimes, murders, and missing persons throughout the city. It's a perfect blend of noir, steampunk, grit, and plenty of Dark Fantasy! I've been playing one of the new subclasses for the rogue and having an absolute blast seeing the story unravel and helping the good folk of Lothburgh.

This map will be the first in this series. It will feature the streets of Whistwick (not as grimy and poor as New Ashes but nowhere near as opulent as Milleatte) and the interior of the Investigator's Office, which serves as the launching point of most of the adventures here.

As a DM Andy Community member, you'll have early access to see these maps unfold as LBH prepares to launch the Kickstarter for this project.

I also hope these maps will also be able to serve in other settings, whether you're playing a gothic horror 5e campaign set in a Victorian-style era (like the Domain of Dread Lamordia) or playing other RPGs like Blades in the Dark or Call of Cthulhu. Personally, after watching the reboot of Nosferatu I am SO tempted to re-run CoS in a Victorian setting!

I'll have the full release ready by Monday and can't wait to share it with you all.

Cheers all,

DM Andy

hmm... Curse of Strahd in Lothburgh. It could work!

Oh 100%! I would love to run a Bloodborne style approach to CoS as well. In fact, I've been eagerly awaiting the Kickstarter Steinhardt's guide for that very reason. I think the Victorian style architecture and cityscapes really lend themselves well for Gothic Horror / Body Horror type settings. I'm glad to hear you're excited!

all for the Victorian setting! In fact I’m already running CoS like that. One of my PCs is using a gun (Bloodborne style) ;)
