Hello everyone, and happy New Release Monday! Today, I have a fun little project I've been working on to expand my encounter maps for the Saltmarsh series; The Dragon Ruins.
This map was inspired by the incredible game Elden Ring, and one of my favorite things about the game is stopping to enjoy the incredible work the 3d artists put into each scene and area. This was among my first "wow" moments when playing the game, and I wanted to create a map inspired by it while proving to be a fun encounter map for any seafaring adventure.
This 40x30 map features a small island rising between crashing waves against its rocky cliffs. The island is surrounded by a sheer cliff face with one small beach suitable to dock your ship at and explore the strange glowing red light seen from sailing the seas.
Your party can explore a small, ancient temple built to worship dragons. With a large sleeping dragon statue curled around a fiery red-lit brazier and smaller dragon statues built around the swaying grass, surely there will be many encounters and dangers your players can find.
From hidden treasure to enchanting weapons upon the dragon's brazier, there is no end to the types of encounters this map can be used for.
I created each color version with and without the lit brazier, so you could even make this a core feature of the map. Your players might have to sacrifice a rare and ancient relic upon the altar, consumed by dragon fire, in order to receive the ancient boons this temple has to offer. Let's just hope the large dragon statue is only a statue and not a real dragon!
6 Color moods: Dark Fairytale, Gloom, Ghostly, Night, Sunny Day, & Warm
Variant weather effects such as fog, rain, and sun rays
No-light versions for each map
8k & 4k image resolution (204 & 102 PPI respectively)
Grid & No Grid

That's a wrap for May! But don't worry, I have a very exciting June already in the works. Next, in my workshop, I'll be working on flushing out the remaining buildings of the Village of Barovia, starting off with Bildrath's Mercantile (everyone's favorite curmudgeon!)
After that, I have something new and exciting for the CoS world, but I don't want to say it just yet. You'll have to wait for the sneak peek I will post on the first week of June!
And in Saltmarsh lane, I'll be working on the next location: The Snapping Line, a salvaged ship tavern/inn in the town proper.
I hope you've enjoyed the Dragon Ruins and I very much look forward to bringing you new maps each month!
As always, thank you from the bottom of my heart for your continued support. I'm both honored and humbled by your outpouring of support, which allows me to turn this wild dream into a reality.
Cheers to you all,
DM Andy
