Added 2024-09-27 16:20:13 +0000 UTCEdwin’s mom was young, her husband worked far away (which he hated), and sometimes being a mom FREAKIN SUCKS, it’s hard af. I think Edwin’s mom kinda served funky ‘put together’ mom realness until she locks herself out of the house, home alone, with a 5 yr old and a 3 month old, because the baby won’t stop crying unless they are in the stroller and then it started snowing so she was worried the kids would be too cold and ANYWAY, she hasn’t showered, running on fumes, and finally the most patient women in the world meets her limits. I’m still trying to find a name for her. Luckily, the neighbor came to check on her, and that’s really when the bromance began. Charlie Proudbody is a v good friend of the Underhill, and absolutely was that ‘perfect’ dad, Portia was kinda a brat but she was EXTREMELY well behaved, and polite, and nosy, and loves her dad. I think he has that effortlessly good with kids vibe. He helps out mama Underhill and gets her inside, knowing how hard it is to do this alone, and is just genuinely a very kind person. Charlie Proudbody really was the friend Mrs. Underhill needed in this new town, and Mrs. Underhill kinda became the mom/aunt Portia needed growing up. They are very tight.
Edwin’s dad is a character in itself and is very thankful to Charlie for his help. Charlie is def the handyman/helpful neighbor, and they pay it forward 10x, especially when he’s sick trying to be a single dad.
Not really sure what Portia’s relationship with Mr Underhill is like, he’s prob very sagely and silly, but most of all, he’s PATIENT, he’s the most patient man ever. He’s a good buy. Obvi when Portia and Edwin start dating, they’re thrilled. I feel like the Underhills and Portia’s dad are v close, I also think the underhills would be like ‘Charlie, come live with us so we can hang out all the time and just be grandparents all together, wouldn’t that be nice’ and Charlie is like ‘what the hell’
