It's the dog peeing on the grass. Dog pee will kill grass. Try seeding clover.

You can plant more native plants, grasses instead of the standard grass. They survive better, but it also supports the local biodiversity.

My female dogs always left brown spots on the yard where they pee, so I got special pee treats for them, and now no more brown spots

Yeah!! (as long as it's native) it's also very green and nice to walk on! And you don't have to mow nearly as often (depending on what you want your yard to look like lol)

Hmmm...plant native grasses. No mowing, no fertilizer, no pesticide, and you'll support bees, birds, and butterflies. And Spider will have a blast running through the grasses (ok, I know, you'll have to check him for ticks. If you can get a possum in your yard, it will eat all the ticks and you won't have to worry about it).

Plant clover. Better for the soil, better for the environment

You can probably blame the birds for reseeding the plants that keep coming back, as long as its not crab grass you should be fine

Rather than applying fertilizer to a grass lawn, it might be better to have alternative turf. My front yard is a mix of grass, clover, and moss. It stays green, and the moss makes it soft.

I got no problem with dandelions, clover, etc. I make sure to get fertilizer that DOESNT kill those. But I am not ok with those little spike traps all over my yard π€

I mean the thistles are likely native plants so I don't blame them tbh

Dead spots in the yard are likely from female dogs urinating, just embrace it π€·ββοΈ or grow something else like clover that won't die from dog urine

Embrace biodiversity! Grass and dandelions and dogs all make happy gardens!

The culprit for our brown spots was our dog peeing in the same spot

Yeah, I just planted a patch of clover instead of grass and I'm really happy with it :)

Not gonna lie, I'd love to see you doing a book signing or something. But the only way to guarantee I buy a ticket is if you bring Spider

I know the feeling of grass. I have a spot that's pretty empty and several spots that grow like crazy. It's probably my dog.
