The winner is Half Sisters! I enjoyed the snappiness and how it emphasizes Nikki and Sofia's burgeoning relationship and their new and developing femininity.
This was the first time I've experimented with "comic" style dialogue balloons. I'm very interested to know what you think about that, and about the comic as a whole.
Oh, and if you're looking forward to more, don't worry. You won't have to wait a whole month for Episode 2... 😁

Nikki sadness in panels 4 and 17 really hits me like a freight train at full speed, muse Emory. Not only that, but seeing Zach and Mr. Hutchinson it inspired my own characters Dr. Delilah Crowe©™, M.D., Platinum Star and Summer Chastity Crowe©™ (Née/Né Sylvester Charlton Crowe), Acquisition #374. Delilah's monstrosity and amorality is a carefully constructed mask to ingratiate and bring down Second Dawn. Hutch doesn't have a mask, he's really monstrous.

Honestly, it's always really exciting to see new members connect with the characters and their stories. I do put a lot of effort into those little details - I'm a perfectionist at heart - so it's rewarding to know they're appreciated. 2024-03-04 05:54:58 +0000 UTCI'm a new member here who fell in love with Emory's work after stumbling across "Maid for Life" on another site on the web. When I reached the end of that story and saw the rendering of Sophia and Nikki pointing at each other while exclaiming, "Wait, she's a boy?" I knew I had to find the new series teased in the end panel. And now I'm here, so I obviously found it. I'm anxiously looking forward to following Sofia's and Nikki's adventures in "Half Sisters"; however, after scanning through Emory's site, I discovered so much more here, most notably her epic "Jack & Jill" series. So, while I learned Scott's/Sandy's/Sofia's backstory in "Maid for Life," I soon realized that I should first read through "Jack & Jill" to understand Nikki's origins as well. That's what I have been doing since subscribing last week (and I definitely plan on going back to the beginning so that I can savor each issue at a more leisurely pace). Now, 1,937 frames later, I better understand the world Emory has created over the past 6 (almost 7) years , and I can't wait for the continuation of Jill's story whenever Phase 9 premieres. In the meantime, I've begun this next phase of Sophia's and Nikki's lives. I thoroughly enjoy Emory's storytelling skills and imagination, and her renderings are gorgeous. I especially love the detail Emory includes in her renderings -- little things like the gold veining on the candy apple red fuselage of the executive jet carrying Nikki back to Texas (not to mention the classic pinup flash on the plane's tail). And Gawd, don't I wish I had a rich daddy who could gift me with a gurl like Nikki. Even though he seems like he may turn out to be a creep, you gotta envy Zach. I know I'll enjoy reading this story along with all of the offerings on Emory's site.
