In an unfortunate turn of events (for youtube), we weren't able to get the video uploaded today. Some videos give us more trouble than others when it comes to copyright. It is 1 am our time and we still haven't had luck. I (in this case DANIEL) try very hard to adhere to our schedule for the sake of all our viewers but in this case we just needed to concede and give it a bit more time.
But luckily for our amazing Patrons we have another way of providing the video 😊. And I'd like to personally say, most patrons are extremely understanding and constantly remind us to go at our pace and not overwork. So thank you 🙏🏼

However what this does do, is provide us a good opportunity to give a quick run down on our stance with copyrights. We are not against leaving an uploaded youtube video with an active copyright. In fact, several of our videos do have copyrights on them today. However, as we have seen with other channels, when there are multiple of these especially back to back, you run the risk of your channel getting a strike. This is the main reason we (along with our editor) work hard at trying to avoid copyrights all together (also one reason we pause to discuss). But lately, pausing has not been enough.
There are a few myths when it comes to copyright that we'd like to address:
"If you leave the BIGHIT logo at the beginning, it will not get a copyright"
Nearly every MV we've uploaded has gotten a copyright and some have gotten a block. This may have been the case before, but so far this has not been the case for us.
"I saw so and so channel post this video with no pause breaks and they don't have issues"
There are several possibilities for this. For starters, youtube is constantly changing their algorithm when it comes to copyright. So what may have worked a few weeks/months ago, may not work now. We experienced this first hand with our RUN BTS episode. We've also seen some of our videos get completely blocked despite our best efforts while other channel uploads are live with no issue on youtube (It can also be the case that other channels are willing To take more risks when it comes to their channel). We don't really have an answer for this except to say youtube seems to occasionally target a group of channels every now and then. We aren't the only ones who have experienced this. Sometimes it just seems to come down to luck. We have also benefited from this in the past where some videos gave us no issue.
"If you turn off monetization, you won't get a copyright"
This is not true. Even with monetization disabled, a video can get a copyright, blocked, and/or your channel can still get a strike. As we said before we don't know why it's more strict sometimes vs others, but in a perfect world we'd like to have our channel free of copyrights.
"Blur the video / Make it transparent / put words over it like COPYRIGHT"
Although this does help on occasion, it isn't a guaranteed solution. It's always our last resort since it affects the viewing experience the most in our opinion.
With all that being said, this is all still trial and error so hopefully we have fewer issues like these come up. And thank you to all our supporters out there who continually have our backs 😊

I have watched pretty much all of their MVs but I just could not get myself go really deep into the BU. It is way too overwhelming for me. So please don't let the pressure of checking out the BU interfere with how you have been genuinely reacting to their MVs... how it comes across to you is what matters more.

Since you’re a new army it will be A LOT to get through and may be confusing. There are content creators that have summarized the BU on YouTube so you could also watch those. I’ve been an ARMY since 2019 and tried to get into it but eventually just gave up. I get the what it’s about but when it come to BTS and the music and MV’s the BU is not on my top list of things to look for. To me the fandom is split into two when it comes to the BU lol. Some are into the BU and some just aren’t. Completely up to you!

They can even make like bets wether their ‘theories’ are right once they dive into explanation vidoes! it was so fun for me when I dived into the BU of course I did not digest it in a day it was a journey for me as well. Back then I even had to do my own research but now a lot of ARMYs have made website for guides on BU so it’s easier now!

The other days you guys could focus in other BTS contents! This is obviously my suggestion! BU played a major part of me being an ARMY. The explanation videos are mostly summaries so you guys dont have to focus on an explanation to just one music video and you guys most definitely dont even need to watch explaination videos to every single MV because its fun when we give it our own interpretation but it does help for example you guys wanting to know the significance of the statue with black wings and stuff so its worth the research! Also, it's important to remember each album has it's own story from beginning to end. You will get so much more out of the music, lyrics and the MV if you watch the explanation video. Most of them are not long at all. The only one that is longer is the Spring Day explanation, and for good reason. That story is , well... watch it prior to spring day.

Most of the MVs have their own stories and meaning, the BU storyline is usually just elements interjected in them. If you knew nothing about it, you’d still be able to enjoy everything from the lyrics, dancing, and visuals. Great reaction once again, guys! Happy I hopped on here to watch it. 😀

Since I‘m german my translation would be „One needs to have left chaos inside of themselves to birth a dancing star.“ I think what it means is that you have to become friends with your Chaos/evil side/deep temptations (kissing the statue) to grow and live a happy life.

I also started like 2 weeks ago and watched the Summary of XCeleste and WOW it was A LOT. I‘m an Army for 1,5 years now. So it‘s fine. I will say this if you guys feel overwhelmed: If you just take the MVs in the BU as it is, without diving into the lore, it just talks about the growing pains of a normal person. Feeling lost, finding a home amongst friends, giving into temptation, loving someone, losing yourself in love, finding love for yourself. Even the MVs not tagged as BU content (Persona, Shadow, Ego) kind of continues that story of making peace with the light and dark sides of you. So like even without knowing the BU storyline, BTS MVs form a very strong and coherent story of basically just going through life. I think that's why a lot of people find BTS songs so relatable because they write from experiences and their songs grow with them along with their audience both in terms of musicality and lyricism. :)

Its almost mind blowing... All the members have their own roles and storyline to their characters, in which they connect. Once you feel ready i think you could get to watch from the start to end, theres alot of playlists on youtube that have their videos in order and even an explanation video made by XCeleste !

2022-12-16 01:59:33 +0000 UTCI think I read every comment and I didn't see anything about 2 key parts of the BU...Jin is the central character that has a special power and tries to hold the individual members (not band members more like family) from getting "lost" and losing contact with each other. The white flower Jin is looking at near the end of the video is seen in a few other mvs (Fake Love, Ephiany) and I think it is the Smeraldo flower (BTS has a whole backstory to this too). Those that know, please correct me, haha.I agree with other commenters that the BU is slightly represented in this mv but the BST mv is telling a story too. Other commenters did a great job explaining BST. Please keep going down the rabbit whole, it is so much fun watching you guys experience BTS, their music, dancing, mvs, personalities. I think it reminds a lot of us of how we felt at first (I'm a 6 year Army) but they will never stop amazing you...Run BTS dance performance is a great example of that. I couldn't believe that they could create a dance move that looked like they were "running" as well as a kickin' song. Excited for your next video!

2022-12-16 01:50:44 +0000 UTCBeen an army since 2014 and until this day the BU amazes me, I would say, the only way of understanding a bit is watching RUN, I NEED U, PROLOGUE, THE WINGS SHORT FILMS (there are 7 but they're super short), BS&T (Korean and Japanese version) and the LOVE YOURSELF HIGHLIGHT REELS. From there you can come up with your own theory or watch theory videos. But if you want to get the gist of it I recommend you watch it back to back or else you will forget about the small details and it won't make much sense. Either way, I hope you all have fun and also get to the fun parts like bon voyage or Run episodes because although the BU is really interesting, it is very heavy emotionally and it kind of make u feel like your brain is melting :)

Actually the ON official MV isn't a part of the BU, all the BU related videos have a certified BU content message in the description. Of course you could still interpret it is as part of the BU if you want. Also though Blood, Sweat and Tears is definitely apart of the BU, you can also separate it and only look at it the meaning it takes from the book Demian that inspired BST. The quote RM reads when it shows Jin release the balloon is from Demian. BST is similar to all the members solo songs on Wings because they all have double meanings. Each members solo song on the album Wings connects to their fictional character's story in the BU, but each solo song also has a specific meaning/feeling that's very personal to that particular member. Some members have told us about their personal message in their song, while others have chosen to keep their's private. Like Jimin's Lie is about the lie he used to tell himself and actually started to believe, that he wasn't good enough. And V is one of the members that chose to keep his meaning for Stigma private. ARMY asked RM about the meaning of Stigma one time on Vlive and RM said it wasn't his place to say what it's about. The quote on the wall translates to “You have to have chaos inside you to give birth to a dancing star.” Don’t know if it’s still happening, but before the pandemic BTS’s company announced that they were going to make a drama series about the BU. I really hope they can made it someday.

You will notice that: JIN *Jin Does NOT SING at all in this song! (Jin literally has no verses ….) *Jin is the protagonist in BTS storyline and is the subject being tempted in the MV BTS *All remaining 6 members and paired up; 1 older member “mentoring” 1 younger member (RM with JK, Suga with Jimin, Jhope with V) What got me was the religious references and greek mythology that I find interesting: THE PAINTINGS Pt 1: THE FALL OF THE REBEL ANGELS *Jin is staring at the painting called THE FALL OF THE REBEL ANGELS in which heavenly angels are fighting fallen angels (demons) for the souls of man *Jin stands between two doors one “light” the other “dark” depicting the choices he can make (good or evil) DARK STATUE *One of the “dark statues” (seen when Jin is looking at the painting) is “PERSEUS Holding the Head of MEDUSA” “LA PIETA” Statue of the Virgin Mary and Crucified Christ by Michelangelo JHOPE who is seated in water (water is symbolic of the Holy Spirit) in front of the statue “LA PIETA” by Michelangelo, in which is the Virgin Mary is holding a Crucified Christ who just died for the very sins / temptation BTS are alluding to in the song. The face of the Virgin Mary explodes near the end of this song signifying Jin’s choice of evil over good. When Jhope shoot the arrow at V it allude to scripture: Psalms 58:7 “Let them flow away like water that run off, when he aims his arrow let them be like headless shafts”. Psalms 12:21 “You will put them to flight, you will aim at their faces with your bow” Jhope literally shoot the arrow at V face which then multiple colors splatter over it. THE DINNER TABLE Abby said it reminder her of Alice in Wonderland but it is actually a take on the painting of “CHRIST AND THE LAST SUPPER”. However, THIS meal consists of a single “apple” (temptation) of which each member has on his plate. THE DOOR OF LIGHT ALL the member eventually chooses to go through the door with a blinding light coming from it EXCEPT Jin and V. Jin turns to the dark winged statue (fallen angel) and V covers his eyes to blind him of the truth. V SCARRED BACK V represent Lucifer and his wings are attached to the statue that JIN has “Kissed” thus, JIN has turned to take in the temptation and the sin that follows JIMIN Jimin has a blindfold on, and some say it's to cover his eyes from religion / truth. Notice how he is tied to a door of which he can't escape symbolizing a form of bondage to sin. SUGA and JIMIN Sit on a glass floor with Jimin holding his “apple” while Suga holds the “blindfold” to shield him from the truth THE PAINTINGS PT 2: THE LANDSCAPE OF THE FALL OF ICARUS V Jumps from the balcony into the painting THE LANDSCAPE OF THE FALL OF ICARUS. In the actual painting you can see the feet of Icarus sticking out of the water as he goes under. The difference between V and JK is that V is willing to “fall” thus is his role and the fallen angel Lucifer tempting Jin to sin. THE PAINTINGS PT 3: THE LAMENT OF ICARUS Notice the painting behind JK as he is suspended in air is that of THE LAMENT OF ICARUS and shows Icarus falling to his death. It alludes to JK’s innocent and naivety and eventual downfall. In the Japanese version of this song, RM literally gives JK a “controlled substance to drink”. JIN’S KISS DESTRUCTION AND VIDEO END Jin kissing the winged statue (some say it is “Abraxus”, the pagan god or demon branded by the Catholic Church) and seals his fate with the last scene showing the man in the mirror falling apart due to sin. AND FINALLY the title of the song: Luke 22:44 And being in agony (crying out) He prayed more earnestly, and His sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground (Jesus on the night of His betrayal) There are two more music video versions of BLOOD SWEAT & TEARS: *A Japanese version (WHICH IS ALL ABOUT THE BU (Bangtan Universe) *A BTS homemade version filmed at their shared house which is very, very funny! 2022-12-15 23:58:40 +0000 UTCOld ARMY here, 4 yrs and will be 54 yrs day after my bias Taetae ( excited for his bday) you guys have only scratched the surface just of BTS and if you add the BU, that yes is an entire hole in itself, the BU is like so overwhelming, but at least you won’t have to wait for the entire brain rattling figuring out everything since it’s been done for you, if you choose that path, what I love is that BTS does have it kind of separated for those who just want to enjoy the amazing world of just BTS, and then those who dive in deeper into the Universe, that is probably the only good thing for those just finding BTS, those who found them in 2017 were blunged into trying to figure it all out step by step ( only a tad less confusing than you are now, but not by much ) I think for now enjoy the cinematic experience of the BU, but try not to figure out too much until you decided to jump full force into it, save the overload on the brain, figure out for now the meanings of their songs, then you can go into the BU cuz you got A LOT to yet discover with our guys, I mean if you take the BU out you still can enjoy the journey and be blown away, it is all very overwhelming, I still am discovering things I haven’t seen, once you think you’ve seen it all, ( insert evil laugh ) glee again, NOT ! The one ending in yjg. Explains all the meanings without the BU stuff. Two other videos related to BST that are really fun: Blood Sweat & Tears MV Reaction by BTS where the guys watch the video for the first time. They film all their pieces separately so parts were new to them. What they mainly focused on was hilarious! The other one is Blood Sweat & Tears MV Shooting Sketch. Behind the scenes while filming it. Really interesting. You can just search on youtube for them. They are both short and mood-lifting.

2022-12-15 21:51:13 +0000 UTCI think if you watch 'I Need U' and 'Run' you'll get the introduction to the 'characters' in the BU, and after that the Wings Short Films that led up to Blood Sweat & Tears. Those are more straightforward about the story while Blood Sweat & Tears is more symbolic and related to Damien. But I wouldn't dig into the BU much deeper than that for at least until you've been through like most of the Main content (all MVs, albums, important shows/docus etc.) When you're new it's just good to be aware of the BU existing so you'll know that some MVs are related to it and some aren't (which is in the description). That way you'll know which ones to dissect and which ones to just treat as a movie in a franchise you're still getting acquainted with LMAO If you're really into it you can do it earlier of course but I think if you're new everything is already overwhelming enough. Many old armys adore the BU but most joined when that was still very new/current, whereas you guys are still trying to catch up on 10 years of content and that's a big enough task in and of itself :')

Bc watching this now… you notice new things every time… and you guys love the cinematography and the answers to some questions come merely from looking at the shot a little longer. Even if you pause on the scene of JIn looking at the painting in the beginning from behind him right before the song starts and switches to the room with them sitting on that couch… a basic understanding if you know what painting he is looking at and just take that whole image in… him standing in front of the painting … and I guarantee things make a bit more sense. Also the green and pink colors used are important… remember this is about temptation… v lost his wings, Jin kissing the statue wearing vs wings … and all of a sudden the green and pink are everywhere together.. the boys styles change and their expressions change…. More sensual .. more seductive and owning it …. Finally Jin in front of the mirror with the pink and green flowers on front of him… and we see his gorgeous white perfect skin… begin to crack…. He gave into temptation … and if you watch again.. they each give in to temptation willingly and accidentally lol the green and pink are important colors

I (mistakenly ☺️) watched it fairly early in my still short BTS journey and was totally confused and mind blown! Yes, temptation and evil is a fact of life, but at first this video made me wonder if BTS was promoting giving in to evil and I wouldn’t be down with that. Watching explanation videos, as well as learning more about the guys and other songs in their discography definitely helped to put this one into context for me. I still haven’t gotten into the BU. Even without it, the BTS journey is long and winding, but still tons of fun! 💜💜💜

The album Wings was loosely inspired by Demian… and they kinda took the ideas and used them in their own BU storyline in some ways… but this mv doesn’t really fit into the BU that much so I never am quite sure why people relate it to it so much lol fake love is one that definitely has tons of imagery that is related to their storyline… but this one there’s more random nuggets of shots that may feel like you’ve seen them before… but those are like little Easter eggs more than BU connected imo but that’s just how I see it and I actually had to edit my original comment bc I misspoke and lovely Angola kindly corrected me… so take what I said with a grain of salt lol but I think that’s what’s so cool about BTS … the storyline was what truly set them apart for me… the storytelling in every inch of everything they do… the amount of Easter eggs left over the years for army to discover and just go crazy over theories. It’s created a culture of wonder, of theorizing, of imagination and magic for adults who have long lost the need for imagination and magic in our everyday lives … just gave us something to be excited about and the most wholesome precious intelligent charismatic considerate and humble human beings in the world to follow along with. The BU is so comprehensive, with clues and storyline weaving throughout their mvs from the beginning and explained through games, webtoon, books, etc. It'll take awhile to fully comprehend. XCELESTE did create an updated summary of the BU if you want to fully understand the BU without having to read the books/webtoons and watch the mvs and intro/shorts. It's very well done and easy to follow.

2022-12-15 18:12:33 +0000 UTCTo clarify though, for the MVs that are part of the BU, there's still a lot of meaning and symbolism that you can unpack that's pertaining to the song itself, even if you don't know anything about the BU :) Like for this one, yes what they were doing and lots of the things in the rooms are related to the song's theme of aspiration and temptation, and what comes with climbing up to success. For example, the painting that Jin stares at in the beginning is about the fall of Lucifer, and the painting in the first room that Jungkook's in is depicting Icarus - both referring to a certain fall from grace. So yeah don't stress about the BU because it's really not required to appreciate the video. And no harm in checking out explanation videos or rewatching the vid because this one really is a lot 😂 *Edit to add: Also you guys might want to check out a live performance or the dance practice! The performances really add, and particularly for these title tracks, you can always count on awesome choreo and you'll see how they evolve with each new era. Thanks for another great reaction!!

2022-12-15 17:21:06 +0000 UTCThe BU content has the music videos and Japanese mv' s of the same song, plus there are the notes( they came with each physical album that u got when purchasing within the era) and eventually the notes were put together to create books that have been translated. Then there is BTS universe which is a mobile game that dives into the bts storyline plus the save me webtoon. On other notes they have another mobile game called BTS world where you become their manager and have to get the boys together. There are 2 storyline in thr mobile game, 1 where they r all together and you are managing the band and the other where each of them haven't met yet and you come into their life knowing who they are and trying to get them together. This comes with a mv called heartbeat which has an incredible video with it and a soundtrack specific to the game. There is also in the seom( island in korean) and that's kinda like candy crush where the guys did a Run episode creating the game and giving ideas and the boys get stranded on an island and make it their home gradually.

Because of the tie into the BU with so many of their music videos, it is very confusing, and again, in my opinion, detracts from the actual song. I don’t do the BU. I don’t like it, it’s sad and gory and I’m just not into it. I am in the minority though, so once you make the decision to get into it, it will be a time consuming venture. Good luck.

The song, “Blood, Sweat, and Tears” has a lot of symbolism and meaning behind it. Some news reporters asked the group about the meaning of the song. This is what RM stated, “The harder a temptation is to resist, the more you think about it and vacillate. That uncertainty is part of the process of growing. Blood Sweat & Tears is a song that shows how one thinks, chooses, and grows.” The literal meaning of the phrase - Blood, Sweat, and Tears - is hardworking or giving to the fullest. The song is also trying to convey this literal meaning but with a much greater impact and meaning. As you watch the MV, you will be fully able to comprehend the symbolism, metaphors, and numerous other literary components they are trying to engulf the audience with to help understand what they are trying to portray. Definitely unique, and shows how much care and thought BTS and Bighit give to what they do in order to plan the entire BU in the first place. However, the BU is a completely fictional and separate entity from BTS themselves. You can enjoy their music and artistry and the meanings behind their lyrics and music videos without ever knowing anything about the BU.

A comment a little different from others about the BU. I’m not sure if you guys still plan to react to other groups, but there is a theory out there that Big Hit is creating their own “universe” and not just with BTS. TXT and ENHYPEN are under the same company as BTS and they have their own concept and themes. However, some believe that their stories interconnect. It wouldn’t surprise me if HYBE plans to release movies in the future too and just become the Disney Marvel of SK. I know the BTS storyline Save Me was supposed to be made into a movie already, but COVID happened. As for Abby’s comment… yes the BU has comics, books (think these are more short diaries titled as NOTES that comes with the music albums maybe compiled together as a book), but also a mobile game and web posts. There are explanation videos that incorporate all medium to be able to tell the full story.

The video by the channel, Don't Worry I'm Not Afraid, focuses on the literary, artisitc, and symbolic references, rather than delving into the BU (like the xCeleste and Bookish Theories videos do). It's fascinating how rich with allusion and depth of meaning this MV is, so many beautiful easter eggs, so it's a shame to miss out. It's a quote from the german philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche. Herman Hesse who wrote Demian which it referenced in the mv is also geman/Swiss. As many other pointed out the mythology of Ikarus plays a huge role as well.

I was not ready for it and it just completely sucked me down the rabbit hole and made me an Army. After this MV I had to watch everything they’d done and I’m so glad I did! It’s still my favorite BTS song! I’m so glad you all reacted to it!

Personally I think No More Dreams and Danger are part of BU even though it’s not marked BU content. My thought is Big Hit didn’t think or consider marking them until I NEED U.

I became ARMY about a year and a half ago and also found the BU to be too much for me to dive into as I was trying to just catch up with the enourmous amount of content BTS has already. I have watched a few summary videos and given the dark and sad storyline that the BU has, I've moslty stayed away from exploring further. It's just not really my cup of tea... 2022-12-15 15:53:05 +0000 UTCI'm commenting again about this, not ALL music videos are a part of BU. Only the music videos that are marked as "BU content" in description are a part of the storyline. On is NOT marked as BU it's just fans who think it is because it has a storyline in the video but it is not official BU content and the same goes for Film Out as well. It also has a story in the mv but it is NOT marked as BU in the description by Hybe. As far as I know Epiphany was the last music video that was marked as BU content by Big Hit, the story keeps going in the books and game but they are not continuing it in their mvs but someone please correct me if I'm wrong about it.

I highly recommend watching it. it will truly blow your mind. Blood Sweat and Tears was the point in my BTS journey in which I realized I was not smart enough to be a BTS fan. lol. I have had to study to keep up. BTS is storytelling at its best and uses all mediums to tell a larger story. Song lyrics, MV and live performance and in some instances supplemental videos. This is why you will hear people describe their music by Era's. BST is from the Wings era. The Wings albums are based on the book Demian, by Herman Hesse, also on a lot on mythology and psychology. themes of facing temptation and diving deeper into the idea of the self. This era follows the HYYH era which is the beginning of the BU and really a coming of age story. In turn Wings sets the stage for the others after it like the Love Yourself era and Map of the Soul. The MV for this song has tons of references to the story of Demian with Suga playing the role of Pistorius the organ player, the quote He too was a tempter... is a quote from that book. Every statue, painting and detail has meaning. When JK is suspended in the air, it is tied to the story of Icarus who flew too close to the sun and his wings melted. It is further emphazied by the painting that is displayed behind him is the "Lament for Icarus". There is really too much to explain in a comment section but worth the deep dive if you can find the time.

Bookish Theories explanation doesn't really mention the BU parts, but focuses on the references to the art, quotes on the wall and the inspiration behind the story telling, the book Demian by Herman Hesse. The book is fantastic and, judging by Summers expression earlier she's an avid reader and something she would probably enjoy. BTS just love introducing us to thought provoking art and literature. I have a "BTS Library" that includes a lot of the books and art that they have introduced ARMY to. 🥰💜

As Summer had mentioned, it is kinda frustrating to feel that there's some stuff that you had missed and wished you knew. So, go ahead and watch the explanation video. With the significant moments in this MV which I'm sure ARMY here will explain to you as much as we can, it will ease your mind to know what actually was the messages hidden for us to learn about this MV. All in all most of your interpretations are on the mark. You guys managed to guess some things correctly.. happy to see you finally get onto watching this epic one!

2022-12-15 15:09:53 +0000 UTCThe dance practice choreo video to this song is amazing, truly highlighting their synchronicity, talent, and athleticism......Not to confuse you, but the visuals of this video actually moreclosely track the novel "Demian" by Hermann Hesse (instead of having much to do with the BU), which is a novel filled with esoteric symbolic imagery - symbolism that is somewhat tied to psychologist Karl Jung's theories about the human person because Hesse was both a student and patient of Jung's for a period of time....The Japanese-language MV for "BSandT" is *much* more closely tied to the BU...Reading "Demian" is what (I think) led to BTS' next set of albums to be based on psychologist Karl Jung's theories about the human person (which somewhat parallel Freud's; Freud had the Id, Ego, and Superego; while Jung had the Shadow, Ego, and Persona) - BTS made songs about each of Jung's three aspects of the human mind and you've already heard RM's "Intro: Persona"

Explanation videos do a really good job of giving you just enough info about the BU to understand what's going on in the music videos.

Jungkook (the one flying/hanging in the air) is Icarus, an Angel banned from heaven. They get into some very heavy duty topics linked to Philosophy, Art, Mythology, Religion... They went all out with this Concept. All members have solo songs in this Album.
