I love this anime and since I'm more focused on the reaction/watching the anime without reading it half the time I kinda notice things more often. And learning some things about the series before hand teaches you a few things. Also there's a lot of character scenes in previous episodes that come back later on as a gag/defining feature for a scene for a character like Beta who is writing The Eminence in Shadow as a fanfic with her inserting herself as every female character is funny af.

2023-06-10 04:24:10 +0000 UTCYes the fan service episode is just pure comedy gold and it is absurdly amazing. A set up episode for the next arc which is GOATED. Also I never noticed this but in some episodes Cid changes from Shadow to Cid on the fly and I've never noticed this because on the train he is looking at Rose at one point with red eyes (Shadow vision) and has a stern look on his face like shadow and then he drinks some wine and closes his eyes and the moment he opens them up again his face goes back to the normal Cid with black eyes. I can't say more cause it spoils future events in the anime but holy fuck after seeing it I was losing my shit. There is so many hidden details with Cid as a character and how he switches as Shadow in broad daylight. And yes we get Beta who is a fanficiton/professional author who has stolen other peoples work like One Piece, Dragon Ball, and others. A fun easter egg when Cid is reading the titles the last one which he can't pronounce is actually the Japanese name for The Eminence in Shadow when he starts to read it which is very meta. Basically saying the first volume of the light novel of the series is in the anime made by Beta and it is most likely her abridged fanfiction version of it which is comedy gold. Amazingly fun episode with a lot of easter eggs and hidden details that I didn't see on my first watch which is crazy.
