I've seen many reactions to Vox Machina. Out of all of them, you're the one to catch on the earliest that Percy had a demon riding him, although you misplaced it to the mask. When Taliesin Jaffe approached Matt Mercer about making a custom class for him way back before this whole thing was going to be a show, he had a pitch: He wanted to play the man that invented the gun. He laid out the backstory about his murdered family, and that he needed something to even out the odds. That he saw the weapon in a dream. And the rest, the demon Orthax, the smoke, all of it... that was all Matt taking his concept and running with it. While we're talking about character creation, this show is very standard fantasy. The players created these characters to unwind with friends, so tropes were fine. Critical Role campaign 2: The Mighty Nein is an entirely different beast. They now knew they were going to stream it, and they made much more interesting characters that step outside the fantasy tropes displayed herein. But wait 'till they get going. Campaign 3 goes even further beyond. Vox Machina has another 2-3 seasons in it. We know season 3 is in production. We don't know if there's going to be a season 4 or 5. Once that is decided, we might or might not see an animated series for campaign 2 or 3. But I'm really hoping we do, my two favourite Critical Role player characters feature in each of those campaigns.
