There are a ton of small details shown in passing that become relevant much later. Just really smart writing going on here and I appreciate it a lot.

There are a *lot* of plot relevant details in scenes in this show, because the original media is so long and full of information. Also, the dude that seemed interested in Scanlan was the same dude who claimed (to his wife) to only have asked where the privy was. So either he did proposition Scanlan then, or Scanlan's response awakened something in him.
