Canon Chars : Gilda (Griffon), Tree Hugger (Earth Pony)

The construction site was busy as always, machines blaring, workers yelling things at each other, the one tool you need right now not being where you left it, and people secretly hoping it rains so they can stop construction temporarily and just relax and wait.

A very normal workday, and inside of it, was Gilda.

It was rather mindless work, sure but it definitely needed some muscle. And that's something Gilda could deliver easily.

She looked up at a coworker carrying a massive log while flying. She could tell this was way too heavy. Idiot might injure someone with dumb things like that.

The Griffon just wanted to yell at her colleague but it was already too late.

The log was falling. At least nobody was down the….

A pony?!

There wasn't much time to think, it didn't really matter right now who that dumbass was, as the pony that just spawned out of nowhere was standing directly at the impact zone of that falling log.

Gilda swooped right in, in record speed she positioned herself right in front of the pony and…

THUNK

She stopped the oversized toothpick from crushing that pony. Her muscular arms holding the log above her body.

“Shit, that was close!”

Gilda looked the pony up and down. No, it couldn't be.

“Hey…you!!”

“Hey I know you!”

Oh yes, it could. There she stood. Tree Hugger. Green coat, that weird hair, and that headscarf, it was impossible to mistake her for someone else.

“What the hell are you doing here?! Are you crazy?!”

Gilda knew her, the pony was giving her some absolutely annoying anger management lessons for a bit now.

“You almost got squished!”

Oh but Tree Hugger was busy with something else. Gilda standing there, her powerful form commanding attention. Her toned abs and well-defined muscles rippled with every subtle movement, glistening under the sun's golden rays. A layer of sweat coated her skin, highlighting the hard-earned contours of her physique as she stood tall and confident, exuding an aura of strength and determination. A slight blush formed on her cheeks and all that came from the mare was a…

“Nice.”

The griffon couldn't believe what she just heard. She knew she was weird in how unbothered she was usually but this?!

“What?!?! No!!! Not Nice!!!”

Was she not aware of what just happened?!

“You almost died, you crazy pony!!!”

With a loud thud Gilda put the log down. Anger and confusion filled her face.

The pony smiled, not even acknowledging the claim.

"Don't worry. I had a strong and powerful griffon help me out.”

“I… Ugh!!!., what the hell are you doing here!? Where did you even come from?!”

The pony just stared at the log and gave another smile. Sure, Tree Hugger was aware of the potential danger of just walking into a construction site, but she was also aware that a certain Griffon was nearby, and if her tarot card and crystal shines had anything to say, luck was on her side today. She could afford to be careless.

“Chillax Gilda, we meet regularly don't we? Just following the routine. Some creatures like routine, it can be healthy for the mind even.~”

Gilda just couldn't believe she was this nonchalant, so mindless about everything, her anger rising. The only reason they keep meeting is because of some stupid lessons about how to be less angry. It wasn't her idea obviously, as if she would just join up for that on a whim. It was Dash's idea, and giving her the benefit of a doubt as a friend, she agreed.

She's been questioning their friendship ever since.

Ok, she probably meant it well, but she felt like Dash was actually sitting somewhere enjoying the free entertainment, laughing her feathers off.

….If only this actually was a prank.

“Wait, wait wait, is THAT why you're here? Is this about your anger management lessons again?”

Tree Hugger's attention went back to the griffon, still having the same calm and chill expression on her face that she had displayed the entire time so far.

“If this is how you want to see it, yeah~. Though, to be fair, I can feel your vibes are agitated.”

Gilda felt like she was about to strangle the mare.

"Agitated? AGITATED? That doesn't even put it into words! That was DANGEROUS!”

The mare began to circle around the griffon, as if she was gleefully admiring her, her matted tail playfully brushing along the griffon's strong figure, before coming to a halt right where she started, in front of her.

“Yeah… I feel it. You seemed very stressed out, Gilda. I think it's the energy of this site, it’s eating away at your aura. We should really get out of here~”

Gildas anger turned to confusion, why did she always have to talk like that? All, WEIRD and in CODES, what the hell was an VIBE, an AURA? It was annoying. It used to be amusing… well, used to. Now it was just almost getting creepy.

“OUT of here?! YOU walked IN here and I WORK here, I can’t just leave!”

Tree Hugger gives a single nod with eyes closed, presenting the idea as if it had been the griffons. If it was really out of a sense of doing some therapy or simply because it amused her, well that was Tree Huggers secret.

“A walk sounds nice. It's like you're reading my mind. You're really in tune with my life force today, Gilda. I love it~” Tree Hugger rolled her shoulders in a little dance. “Giving me groovy tingles~ Let’s go while we’re in sync yeah?”

And just like that the mare began to stroll away without a care in the world, her tail flicking lazily behind her. Tree Hugger looked over her shoulder towards Gilda for a moment, her gentle gaze  inviting Gilda to come along.

“H-hey, wait what? Right now? I never said I'm done with work! I can’t just- hey-...HEY!!!….CAN’T YOU WAIT?!”

The pony just turns around and makes some weird wave motions with her arms, symbolizing the flow of life. Or maybe it was just to piss Gilda off, infuriate her into following her..

Gildas behavior amused her, but she knew she would follow. Gilda might not know it yet, but their lifepaths aligned. She was sure about it.

“Life waits for nobody, friend, you gotta grab it~”

No, Gilda was not going to play along with that. First she comes here, nearly gets killed and then she wants to go on a damn walk? Nope, not with her!

That sentiment lasted for exactly five seconds. As much to her horror the crazy pony had her eyes closed! It's like she had been talking to a wall before!

With a carefree attitude she walked on, stepping on a steel beam that was attached to a crane. Being lifted up into the air, yet she kept balancing on it, completely unbothered. Gilda panicked, flying up to catch the pony, but then Tree Hugger simply stepped on a pipe that was being lowered down by a different crane.

As if she didn't realize where she had been, she stepped off, continuing her stroll on the ground, towards the exit.

Gilda holding her face in terror. How much dumb luck can a pony have?!

Just when Gilda was about to leave the crazy mare to her twisted fate, she saw something-

WAS THAT A FUCKING PIANO?!

Gilda swooped in just in time, lifting the massive object above her head to prevent it from crushing the mare. With a firmer grip, she hurled the chunk of music far away from both of them, adrenaline surging through her veins.

Gilda huffed, baffled by the suddenly chaotic scene before her. It was like the mare was bending reality with the sole goal of terrorizing her.

Tree Hugger meanwhile, oh it was like she didn't even know. At least until she spoke.

“How nice of you, wanting to play me some music, but i think you’ll find the sounds of nature a little more fitting to our vibes~”

The mare pranced off, eyes closed again, literally blind to the possible dangers.

The pony was about to kill herself like this. She rolls her eyes and lands back on the ground.

“Ah whatever”

Her job was not worth whatever mess this was….

“HEY! Wait up, you maniac!”

Gilda hurried after the mare who was already happily prancing out of the construction side, before she knew it, they were far away from the chaotic construction sight and out in a field of blooming grass and dandelions. Was this… always here? Gilda never really noticed before. Even when she flew past this very location every day for work.

It was nice… beautiful even. Hell, Gilda forgot that word was still in her vocabulary… It was calming, almost freeing. She felt out of place though, like that red and white fabric on the grass with the-

Was that a picnic basket?!

The mare looked back and smiled at her, her steps light and carefree as they left the bustling construction site behind them.

"Going with the flow is great, but it doesn't mean I don't come prepared.”

Gilda raised an eyebrow. Her eyes shifted between the picnic scene and the hippie.

“And why is a picnic basket part of your preparation?”

Tree Hugger legitimately didn't seem to understand the question, or at least pretended she didn't. Seeing nothing weird about arriving here with that in tow.

“Well, you're on your break, aren't you? And I'd assume you're hungry. The spirit can do many things, but without fuel even it will falter!”

Well, as much as she didnt like it, the pony had a point. She came by close to lunchtime. Why wouldn't she bring something? If anything it was a nice gesture she thought about it.

Gilda really wanted to fight it. She just didn’t want to give a win to this weird pony that claimed herself as her… anger management mentor, but  with a grumble, Gilda followed the mare walking besides her,  Glancing over at her now and then, Gilda had to wonder how the pony could be so unbothered by everything and anything and while Tree Hugger would do the same, the pony seemed to have a different thought in her mind.

Each time their eyes met she would smile. Causing the griffon to look away rather quickly again.

It was weird. Awkward. Are all ponies like this? No, Dash and her friends weren’t weirdos like her. this was just… Tree Hugger.

At a nice clearing of her picnic spread, she would sit down, looking at her eagle eyed companion, patting the spot next to her excitedly.

“Our little journey hike is over, Gilda~ Sit with me It’s time for a little treat”

Gilda rolled her eyes annoyed, she finally sat down, but peace was never an option as a little bit of pink poking through her fur as Tree Hugger gilded her small hand across her neck feathers, instructing her to relax and take deep breaths.

The beastly part of her wanted to bite, yell and roar but when she turned the mare handed her a sandwich, defusing the situation even before it started.

“It's nice to be here, and sharing the gifts of nature, isn't it?”

Gilda just wanted to eat her lunch, get her mind off the mare that seemingly kept intruding her thoughts, touching her, instructing her as if she was some wild mutt. Holding the said ‘gift’ in front of her mouth, Gilda scrunched up her face before lowering it again.

“It's literally just bread.”

Tree Hugger chuckles to herself, smiling brightly, her eyes on the griffon, almost shimmering in the light of the clearing. She was special to her, that griffon. They seemed so much like opposites, but exactly that drew her to Gilda.

Yin and Yang.

A bit cliche maybe, but she never cared about what others think.

“The universe is not always the way it seems, Gilda. So is the gift you call ‘bread’”

The pony just starts staring straight ahead, watching the birds, the squirrels, just enjoying their surroundings. Gilda followed suit before suddenly…she felt the mares hand on hers.

“W-what are you doing?!”

The griffon seemed very perplexed by the sudden physical contact. Was this supposed to be part of the lesson?

“We’re sharing a moment, a touch, a memory. Does it not feel nice? Doesn't it calm you?”

“What?!”

It was WEIRD, that's what it was. But, Fuck. The mare had a point. She felt  embarrassment maybe but not anger and after that one jump of a moment it did make her feel…better, calmer, more...

She scoffs.

"Okay. You can do your weird little studpid, pony anger rituals. But don't get any ideas.”

Tree Hugger giggled. Oh it was way too late for that. She had plenty of ideas in her head already. And they all centered around the oblivious griffon next to her.

“Beautiful…”

Both locked eyes, Gilda’s sandwich filled cheeks began to blush, the mare just kept her cool, calmly smiling at her. One painful, forceful bready swallow after, Gilda croaked out a dry-

“W… what?”

The hand, now this statement. What was this? This…this was an anger management lesson, right? Tree Hugger was strange, she was weird and not like the others. But even for her, this was getting into a new territory of… weirdness.

Tree hugger smirks.

“The forest, friend. Listen to it. Feel its vibe, smell it, taste it. Like auditory therapy.”

Therapy. Good. Yes…ok, that sounded more like anger management.

And for quite a while, the two just sat there, enjoying the atmosphere, the noises of nature around them, the sunlight they were bathing in and most of all, each other's company. Tree Hugger occasionally stroked Gildas hand with her finger. Her small green fingers sliding between the grooves of her claws.

The Griffon blushing each time, trying to control herself from lashing out but yet also never taking it away. This was just therapy, she was healing, nothing more…

“Hmmmm~”

“This was nice. But I’m afraid the wind is taking me elsewhere now~”

The mare gets up, finally taking her hand from the griffons. Stretching a little before turning to Gilda. It was a risky move, but she knew what she wanted to do. It was time for a big lesson.

A bright smile forms on her face before she bends down, and plants a kiss on her forehead.

“Thanks for the fun time my free spirit.”

Gildas face turned completely red and oh how much she wished it was because of anger. But no, she felt awkward, shy, embarrassed…. flattered?

And even if she was fighting the feeling, she knew that she liked it. God, why did she like it!? But more importantly-

“W-why did you…THAT?!”

The pony had such a disgustingly bright smile. She should be mad at it, but she can't bring herself to feel anything but…joy?

“A treat for being such a good spirit. It was a great experience. And I hope you enjoyed it too. Till your next lesson then, Gilda. See ya~”

And with that, the mare walked off, returning to whatever hippie commune she may belong to. Does she even HAVE a home?!

Gilda meanwhile, kept sitting there in the clearing. She had a lot to think about right now.

Only when the blaring siren from the construction site, alerting the end of break, shocked her system would she get up and like a robot she returned to the worksite, deep in thought.

Thinking about what they did today.

Their walk together in the forest, them enjoying nature together, eating together.

Gilda’s face twisted with concern. There was a lot of “together” there...

And while she mindlessly worked, an answer began to form. One she didn't particularly like, but that became clearer and clearer the more she put the pieces together.

...

Her eyes widened.

“DID I JUST GO ON A DATE?!”
