PATTON FULL REACTION

Comments

Great reaction Mr. L. Boyd. I feel that General Patton is a tragic hero in American history. He couldn't get out of his own way, and so it tarnished his legacy. He romanticized war, but it consumed him. His astute knowledge of the wars of antiquity made him feel as though he was actually there in many guides, and many names, but it was always him. He was what America, and the world, needed at the time. Kinda like "break glass when needed." It's one of my favorite movies ever!! Also, at the 18:00 mark, thank you for the little bit of history of the Moorish people in Morocco. I think you were referring to the period of "La Reconquista" when you said that they were annihilated.

Bro, I just looked this dude up. He was born in 1885 just outside of Los Angeles (the same year the Intercontinental Railroad was completed). He was a harsh man from harsh times. Of course he wouldn't care about a guy's mental health problem... you're sad about your feelings? You ain't bleeding, you ain't hurt! This guy grew up and dominated life in a technology boom. He watched LA go from a frontier town to a major city, then went from riding a horse to school to commanding a tank army across an African desert.

The budget doesn't just translate to modern inflation. To make this film in 2024, with all these live action shots and animals and explosions and locations... the financial and regulatory hoops you would have to jump through... nightmare. No way they make the money back.

Patton is is carrying a horse whip

I also wanted to add regarding your question about why General Patton admired General Rommel besides the fact tat they were the best commanders on both sides it goes a lot deeper that...The Germans respected and feared Patton because they saw him as the leader that was more like them...The Americans saw Rommel like wise...that why he was placed in charge ghost army because Germans believed that Patton was like be in charge of the main invasion and it worked like a charm

Another thing I just noticed after a rewatch Jerry Goldsmith wrote and composed the theme for this movie...For us Star Trek nerds he also wrote composed the them for all the Star trek movies all the up until his death in 2004

Excellent War movie, "We Were Soldiers" All practical. Story of Col Hal Moore, the father of helicopter air assault, fighting a dug in NVA unit, with 10x the men he had. The Battle of Ia Drang. Multiple Medals of Honor awarded

I’d love to see your reaction to the recent version of All Quiet on the Western Front. A view of war from the trenches. Zero glory.

You definitely need to add Lawrence of Arabia to your older movie watch list. The cinematography will blow you away.

1. During long movies they used to put a timeout in the movie so people could get up and use the restrooms and but snacks. It was called an intermission. 2. There are different accents in the UK just like the US. 3. The stick is a riding crop for horses. For Patton probably dates back to when he entered the Army and they were still using horses in the Cavalry. 4. "I DIDNT SEE ANYONE KISS" Lie. You saw Patton kiss the soldier on the top of the head and I saw the disgusted- puzzled look on your face when it happened. 5. You go from criticizing Patton over the slap and how crazy that was that he did it or how he failed to understand or empathize with soldiers who are shell shocked to saying America needs more of that. Does America need more leaders who lack empathy?

Right on time, Mr. L. Boyd, you never disappoint. It might seem kind of strange, but this really is a feel-good type movie for me. It reminds me of being a kid and staying up past my bedtime with my dad to watch old movies. Patton was his jam; the movie, at least. He was a bit disenchanted with the man himself, but there's no denying that he was a fascinating character, and tough as a two dollar steak.
