A photo a day keeps the clothes away! - #172 - Wild Berries

Nothing beats wild berries while hiking! I heard they were to early and that might be true. most of them were not ripe yet but i might be lucky to that i was able to pick them.

I remember the berries from my childhood when i was picking them with my mom.  Now i don't see them often anymore in The Netherlands.

What about your country does it provide some tasty fruits in the wild?

Around the Rocky Mountain areas of the U.S. we have raspberries and sometimes strawberries and blackberries.

Bare Beach Bum

In our forest, strawberries and raspberries are often found - very tasty and aromatic, blueberries and lingonberries grow in the swamps. But blackberries - it is she in your hands - they come across not so often. At least in the forest next to which I live. And we also have a lot of mushrooms - I love looking for them. We call it "quiet hunting". A very tasty soup is cooked from them and they can be fried with potatoes - also unusually tasty!..

What kind of berries are they Stella? Where I grew up in upstate New York we had all sorts of wild berries: black berries, raspberries, black raspberries, huckleberries, blueberries, strawberries, elderberries, chokecherries and others. Wild berries are delicious. Though smaller than cultivated berries they taste better. We had one place where we picked berries that we called blackberry jungle because the plants were so many and so tall. And the berries were huge and delicious.

Blackberries are everywhere here in Australia and they’re considered a weed. Nice for a little snack every now and again though 😊

LOL, Sunday bonus. In any event, we have lots of wild berries (marjoja in Finnish) here. Strawberries (already past season), red raspberries (just now getting ripe), red and black currants, gooseberries, blueberries, cloudberries, and lingonberries, among others. Cloudberries and lingonberries are usually for autumn here in the South. I haven’t seen many blackberries, though.
