Behind The Scenes: Stream Room

If you want to create illustrations on a regular basis, you will always face the same pressure every week. If you go through my older emails, I always point out, that it's important to be observant and have a list. So every week, there will be a shortlist of candidates to pick from.

But after a while, when you make enough illustrations and try out different styles, you can get to a point, where the decision get harder again. Ok I have a list, but what to pick this time? And why?

That's probably the most important question. Why would I do something like that now? If there is no theme, that would excite you right away and no theme, that you would directly benefit from (by learning new technique for example), what about a theme, that would benefit from your recent experience?

Every day we engage in all sorts of activities and different tasks. Like picking out a new equipment for something, solving some technical issue around the house, or outright building the house. All of these things might need some knowledge acquiring and research.

Hm, research. When would you possibly need to do a research? Maybe for your new illustration? And what if there is an item in your list, that's quite close to what you've been up to recently and maybe already researched? :)

I've been involved in some architecture and interior design and it involved a lot of research of furniture, materials, wallpapers and stuff like that. And look at that, there is an interior design in my list, specifically a sequel to my gaming room illustration.

After I gathered few images for my Pinterest board, I realized I can take it a bit further and instead of gaming room, create a streaming setup. All because of one image I stumbled upon.

I've taken this idea into the sketching phase and focused on the streaming setup. That meant quite large table in the middle with all of the equipment around. I've added few surrounding details and moved onto modeling.

When it came to picking textures and materials, I had a pretty good idea what to do and nice wishlist of materials to pick from. I used them few days ago while trying to mock up our future house. 

So when in doubt, stop for a while and think about what you did past days and if it can be used for some of the items from your idea list :)
