I’m not a girl but I was raised one and this was absolutely a fat piece of the puzzle; when asked about my dream wedding the answer since i was 10 years old has been marry at the courthouse and a looong honeymoon in Japan.

Cartoon Network folks were okay with it eventually, but they straight up told her that investors will cut funding and their hands would be tied. So Sugar was given the choice of not airing the wedding and the show could continue or they would support the wedding making it to broadcast, but they wouldn't be able to make more episodes. Sugar chose the latter, and as such the show was originally going to end here. But she kept fighting for either more episodes or a movie to be able to wrap up the story. CN initially denied the episodes, but okay'd the movie. After all they could get different investors and different markets to make up for it. And it being a movie by a network they wanted it to essentially be advertising for a series so they could get more ad revenue and deals etc.... thus The Movie and Future were born... Then they just kind of out of the blue also changed their mind and okay'd a few more episodes of Season 5 so she could also wrap up the show. Unlike a certain other network CN was on board with supporting Sugar and Crew, but like any business were held to certain dynamics with investors and markets. It's a shame that even now it's still an uphill battle, but every win helps future endeavors. Without Korrasami, Bubbline wouldn't happen, without Bubbline Garnet's wedding couldn't happen, without SU as a whole She-Ra couldn't happen, Owl House couldn't happen. And all of these creators are pretty open about this too, that their ability to point to these past examples of success gives them ground for their own success

I watched a LOT of "My Fair Wedding with David Tutera" and after the episode with the bride who went with an Alice in Wonderland theme (a theme that my, what, 7- or 8-year-old ass judged HEAVILY and then defended JUST as heavily when Bride's mom was mean to her about it) I decided I wanted a Scooby-Doo themed wedding. I still remember some of the details I wanted lmao
