Arcane: Welcome to Noxus

Comments

So! An oversimplified intro to the champions who we get shown to in this trailer (Which I think Riot did confirm was more a trailer for the upcoming League season and not the next show. But i could be wrong on that) Axe-Jayce:: Darius, known as the Hand of Noxus, one of the greatest warriors of Noxus and an icon of Noxus might. The ice troll:: Trundle, a powerful troll king from Freljord, one of the kingdoms Noxus is at war with. Wield True Ice, which is ice so powerful it can't be destroyed. Assassin Vi:: Katarina, Noxian nobility and a skilled assassin. I think she's in a relationship with Garen (Champion from Demacia) in League, not sure how they'll implement that in the show, if they do at all. Spider Lady:: Elise, nobility, turned into a spider-lady after a bite from a spider-god. The giant spider on the ceiling is her other form. Magic Lady at the end:: LeBlanc, I think she is the face-changing shadow lady Mel met from Arcane. The gold eye stuff looks the same at least. Co-Founder of the Black Rose and thousands of years old League Astarion :: Vladimir, blood mage, thousands of years old and the other co-founder of Black Rose. Also leads a secret cult of Noxian blood mages Also, completely understandable if you have no interest in playing the game. But I highly recommend watching the official League of Legends trailers and animations. They're so fun and enjoyable and let's you fall in love with the characters without dealing with the toxic side of the community.

I hate this idea some people believe, that Vi had a choice between going after Jinx and hooking up with Caitlyn, and she chose Caitlyn. That is false I think Vi spent hours in that cell thinking about every possible way to try to find her sister, and if there was a single one that might have worked she absolutely would have done it immediately. But Vi realized it wasn't physically possible. The enforcers, along with Vi for part of it, have spent literal months searching for Jinx and never found her or her lair even once. The only times in all of Arcane that Vi has seen Jinx, it's been because Jinx found her first. The only reason Ekko found her in episode 9 is because Powder showed him the lair in episode 7 She wasn't following Jinx no matter what, because she couldn't. But what Caitlyn did in that cell was show that she had faith Vi was right about Jinx changing for the better, and that if even CAITLYN of all people could trust that Jinx would make the right decision and come back to help them, then so could Vi

yeah that's pretty normal for live service games, they'll do videos like this to advertise new seasons (usually 90 days long give or take, as well as big events)

potato potato also another potato

RiotMeddler, the head of the league studio at Riot did say the video is not related to any upcoming show and it’s just meant for the game season, but it’s possible he has to be vague cause they’re not ready to announce anything and it’s still early test for upcoming shows. https://www.reddit.com/r/leagueoflegends/comments/1hvv579/comment/m5wc2zr

Being completely fair to the cinematic (which is not an Arcane trailer, but I do think it's teasing some stuff for the Noxus show), Darius and Trundle (Axe Jayce and the troll he was fighting) having a knockdown dragout fight isolated from everything else in an entirely different location from what anyone else is doing is just accurately representing the gameplay of League of Legends.

Ferret

I might be wrong on this, but every game period in League of legends is called a season, so this might just be a new thing that the next season gets a theme: Noxus. This might just be a trailer for that and some water testing to see how people react to a teaser for what could become a show - or not. - If you want to react to more stuff: there is the "Get Jinxed" music video. Its the release video for when Jinx was introduced.

Katarina, Elise and LeBlanc are so gorgeous that if I don't like the show I'll convince myself to like it✌️

I think this was rather a Trailer for the game but with teasers for the fans of the show. I fully agree with what you said about season 2 and I really hope these Characters (Vi, Cait, Ekko, Jinx) will take on the main focus in one of the shows in the future again and get the story quality they deserve because I've grown so attached to them and they, especially Vi, deserved better, storytelling wise.

hurts watching arcane only fans not knowing these characters

I don’t think so either

If this clip is to be taken as a clip more than a trailer, I'm 100% on board. If it's really a trailer, I'm a bit worried it will be more like Arcane S2, bc I can't see any hint of major plotline or characters dynamics, just very cool fight scenes. But Arcane S1 trailer didn't clearly establish that either from what I remember, so I'll keep my hopes up.

Azirapalala

I personally didn't think Vi knew what Jinx meant when she said "end the cycle".

Alyssa Hernandez

She explained that she loved Season 2 there were just things that frew over her head watching it for the first time and THAT is why it felt ,,rushed"... On a first watch.

LikeCat

No because the thing about the caitvi scene is something I’ve been saying since I first saw it like Vi what are you doing 😭

Fritz Random

I was really excited when I saw you were reacting to this, but I actually didn't finish the video, sorry. I had to just stop after the like third time you paused it to complain about Arcane, it was genuinely making me upset

Andy

Arcane season 2 certainly went in another direction and felt like it was trying too much to push future shows. I haven't thought of the vi scene that way. But damn I can see it and yea. I do hope we get more grounded and indivual.

Suplee215

I think it’ll be hard to tell many more LoL based stories as grounded as Arcane s1. I was surprised (and loved) how they managed season 1, but remember talking before season 2 came out about how I couldn’t see them making Victor and Ekko match their game versions without ramping up the fantasy. I did not expect (or really enjoy) as much Black Rose as we did, and LeBlanc is one of my favorite characters. I did expect more of the hextech high magic characters to show up (like Camille). For this cinematic, LoL season start videos often are just scenes of characters fighting with very lose if any connection between the scene apart from maybe a bit of theme. This one is if anything an outlier in how connected it feels, but it was definitely meant for league players familiar with the characters first. Btw if you liked the red head, Riot made a web comic staring her a few years ago that’s pretty good. https://www.webtoons.com/en/fantasy/katarina/list?title_no=5296 There’s also a Lux comic, she’s the blond girl in the Warriors music video if you’ve seen that.

I'm gonna spend the next ten years of my life simping over this new Kat design and I will not be sad about it.

Ferret

Technically yes, but the fact that LB and Vlad are discussing Piltover in the end makes it double as a teaser for the Noxus show. My prediction is it's showing some of the major characters (Darius, Kat, Mel, Elise, LB and Vlad), but the actual conflicts here aren't necessarily the ones we're going to see in the show, e.g. Darius isn't going to be going to war with the Trolls and Kat isn't necessarily going to be going after the Spider Cult.

Ferret

I'm SO excited. I bet we see Jinx again. 😁

Arcane was never meant to be canon during season 1. It was more of an experiment, taking quirky personalities from the game and giving them depth in a serialized form. Some time after season 1, however, it was announced that the canon of Arcane and League would be merging. The issue was, there are tons of inconsistenties between the both. So the merge wasn't seen as a good deal for a lot of fans. Clarification came out that basically said, Arcane is the NEW canon. So while League's characters and settings can and will be used in sync will Arcane's, practically none of it is reliable anymore because Arcane has already changed/ret-conned a ton. Everything that comes out from this point onward is canon to both, but the shows have priority over old lore you can find on the website. Season 2, beyond writing, feels like a byproduct of the merger. Scenes that set up future projects, but don't flesh out the story they're currently telling. There was a ton of stuff in the cinematic here that seems out of place, or unrelated, but actually is very relevant. Mel is actually the most out of place in the entire cinematic, shown not interacting with anyone, and having some kind of vague vision of sorts, only to be brought into importance at the end with a tease for the Noxus show. All that to say, I think it will be a lot more like season 2. But that doesn't have to be a bad thing if they take the time to plan where they're going. I enjoyed the scale of season 2 personally, but was let down by the interpersonal conflict between the characters. Season 1 had nearly the same runtime but feels infinity more memorable in some aspects. Every single scene felt as if had a purpose to serve in what we were watching. With season 2, it was clear from the beginning for me personally that they were not going to wrap up the Piltover/Zaun conflict and wanted to instead give a glimpse of the future, for better or worse.

Miles

The lady at the end is the mage that imprisoned Mel.

SpaceNerd

League cinematics often show what the characters are up to in present time, especially with this one tying to Arcane S2. So that's why the cinematic appears so disjointed and weird in places. It's kind of here to show the fans what the Noxus characters are up to at the moment. So Mel is arriving in Noxus, Darius (axe man) is off in another country fighting the troll armies. Katarina (red hair) is trying to assassinate some Black Rose noble, whilst Elise (Spider) is protecting him. And Vladimir and Leblanc are plotting something? Also, remember the shadow woman who kidnapped Mel and killed Ambessa had some suspiciously similar golden eye makeup to Leblanc at the end and Mel called the shadow someone who hides their "true face". So the shadow woman was highly likely Leblanc. Basically everyone here is likely to be important characters to the Noxus show in the same way Jayce, Viktor, Vi, Caitlyn, Jinx were. Hope this helped a little with any missing context.

So the cinematic is purely for the new season in league of legends game, like how Fortnite has different seasons but lore/story wise it’s interesting ☺️
