Steven probably isn't a legal citizen considering that his mother was an alien, so he wouldn't be forced to get schooling, but he still should have had some education.

Connie’s dad responds to Garnet with “You’re *too* much.” The gag being Garnet is two people. Normally I might consider this just a coincidence, but this is also the first episode where we actually get to see Ruby and Sapphire (albeit for only two frames) when Alexandrite unfuses.

2024-12-18 13:59:39 +0000 UTCI can’t help but wonder what went through Garnet’s head when she had that phone convo. Side A: stay calm stay calm Side B: what do kids like again? Swords? Wait they die from swords! They die from swords they— All jokes aside, Connie’s parents probably wouldn’t have reacted well to Greg on his own? He lives in a van, and Steven doesn’t live with him— just around him. And his job at the car wash is stable but doesn’t include health insurance. Steven living almost exclusively with the Gems, who often leave him alone during missions, probably also wouldn’t have worked out. That and… Steven has never gone to school. Not that That is a requirement for a growing child, but some level of schooling, whether it be homeschool, private tutors, online, etc. is kind of expected here in the USA? I think it’s a legal requirement. But that’s just my thoughts. I have zero experience so… grain of salt.

It is really really subtle as far as representation goes, but this did come out in 2013. Anyway, can't wait for the next set of reactions!

I'm not saying that's good/bad, but I do get oddly nostalgic whenever I see the slogan, so it's funny that I get a hint of that nostalgia whenever I see "Keep Beach City Weird" too - which is frustrating because Ronaldo is so punchable and how dare he give me nostalgia.

It sets the tone for the kind of subversion this show likes to do.

And the more gems the more difficult stable fusion becomes. Stable fusions are much more their own person, while less stable fusions like Alexandrite can have conflicting individual personalities rather than a gestalt personality like Opal or Sugilite.

He was describing the George W. Bush administration's decision to go to war over the gut feeling that there were PROBABLY good reasons to be at war, regardless of what the facts kept saying.
