THIS TERRIFIED ME!!!!!

Hi, trans viewer here! Body dysmorphia isn't gender dysphoria--dysmorphia and dysphoria are two different words. Body dysmorphia is a delusion in which you perceive your own body differently than it actually is, which can result in dysphoria--like, imagine if every time you saw your picture or reflection, it was like looking into a funhouse mirror. Gender dysphoria, on the other hand, is when you feel dysphoria over your body not aligning with your gender identity. Usually this is referring to the experience of trans people, but if you want to get pedantic with it, most people technically experience gender dysphoria on a regular basis. Women feeling gross if they don't shave? That's gender dysphoria. Jealous and sad your bust isn't the size you want? Gender dysphoria. A man feeling depressed because he can't grow much facial hair, or is going bald? That's gender dysphoria, too. Between body dysmorphia and gender dysphoria, Zooble definitely seems more likely the former imo, nothing about their actions or words seem to have any relevance to gender, aside from their use of they/them pronouns--and even that may still be more the fact they simply don't know their own gender identity at this point, what with having lost so much of their memory that they don't even know their name, and having a new "body" made up of a mess of abstract swappable parts. Don't get me wrong, I'd love the representation, and I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if their whole thing will ultimately allude to BOTH of these things, but I'm just going off of what we know for certain.

I assumed that Ragatha tied up Jax so they could have tea peacefully with the ghost. I don't think he would have allowed the pacifist ending if he'd been unrestrained.

In case you're unaware, the Polish dub translated "meowing milkmaids" as "skibidi sigmas". I just thought I'd mention that and deal psychic damage to everybody :)

"Congratulations, you took the pacifist route, and should be proud of what good people you are!" Well that's a jab at the Undertale fandom if I've even seen one :p

For Jax someone pointed out that, he apparently loves to fk with people and he's also a rabbit which are known for their libido but they're also innocent creatures that are easy prey/easily preyed upon so it could be that he messes with others so they can't mess with him first(ragatha mentioning he's supposedly a coward and won't show them what happens if he hold his breath and he immediately deflect to "just want to keep the mystery" could easily be he doesn't wanna risk being preyed up by giving them ammo of whatever happens to him when he does) which is brilliant

Something else. Pomni says "he just wants me to suffer." Who's "he?" I mean, I think we're supposed to believe it's Caine...but is it? Kinger remembered that bit about "seven years of computer science" from his past...is this maybe not current, but a memory from *Pomni's* past?

so I had a theory that kinger made the place their trapped in since episode 1. my unfiltered by the next two episodes opinion was based on small lines like kingers been there the longest the off handed comment at the end where kinger corrects jax on how the digital world works and the fact his avatar is a king I also believed he was a programmer before it was confirmed and I though the comment about insect collections was him pointing out coding bugs in the world and he spent his life trying to fix these bugs to undo the hellscape they made this probably well intentioned world but it was probably literal now we know his wife was an entomologist but I still think kinger made the world. another theory I have that has no real impact on the story but I think is cool I think all there avatars are manifestations of there biggest insecurities ragatha is a ragdoll ragady ann doll probably representative of how she lets others pick on her and walk all over her pomni is a jester probably presentative of how she often the butt of the joke and laughed at by others gangle is string with a fragile comedy mask hiding a tragedy mask probably representative of her volatile emotions zooble I believe is representative of body dysmorphia I cant figure out jax if you do id love to hear it and kinger if my other theory is true then his biggest insecurity is that he made this world and probably went insane via guilt that its his fault everyone is suffering so he is a king piece dressed lavishly pointing to him as the ruler of this hell

I think the reason that specific type of horror doesn’t bother me is because in a wierdly charming way, you can see what a shoddy job Caine did, the backstory is paper-thin and full of clichés, and the monster design is in the style of all the creepypasta that’s been mass produced on YouTube that my niece has been obsessed with since she was like 8 and would put on videos of people making comedy out of being scared of Five Nights At Freddy’s sort of stuff.

Had a thought while watching the YouTube cut. When people abstract, does it happen before or after someone new comes in? Because if it's after or even when someone new enters, is it because Cane can only handle so many minds in the system?

You talked about our 1 braincell making the hamster thing in you head, but I think I had the same thing doing when you talked about Zoobles and their dysmorphia, because maybe your onto something with the idea that their apparences in this world, are based of what they were feeling before entering it.
Zoobles : body or/and gender dysmorphia making them a bunche of piece sticking together.
Pomni : She said "of course HE want me to suffer", so maybe her jester apparence is because she was thinking that she was just here to be the amusement of someone, especially since she talk about the fact that nobodies should feel that they're not wanted with Gummygoo (RIP)
Ragatha : A doll is fitting for a people plaeser who think they're always toyed with.
Gangle : The mask thing is self explanatory, but the fact that she's a bunch of ribbons all jumbled together could also be a sign that she's having trouble with her feelings and how to express them, who could explain the mask even more.
There is also a possibility that he and his wife were in an fusional couple, seeing them as queen and king of their own world. But her being an entomologiste could also explain the queen things if she was the Queen piece.
Jax : Since he love to fuck with everybody, that could be it. Rabbit are known for their libido, but also for being the most innocent creature, an easy prey. What if his demeanor was his way to not being the target, by being the bully, he doesn't become the bullied.
In short, thanks you for helping me discovering that, I love theories and really this one make me hyped to see if I might be true.

Finally got to watching this episode! Came straight here after. I didn't even think of Kinger being the therapist but that is an interesting idea! I've always assumed he was a game dev, which was also hinted at in this episode, but in this episode specifically I saw a lot of reference to Dementia when looking at Kinger. I had someone dear to me with dementia for several years before she passed, and it was much like this. She could grasp onto certain memories when doing something very specific, like listening to the rain or hearing a specific song. Perhaps being in the dark is Kinger's memory trigger? Just a thought I had while watching. Hmm hmm.

A lot of Kinger's randomness is suddenly not so random when you go back and watch the first two eps. Remembering things about Ragatha when the bucket was on his head (and immediately forgetting when it comes off), freaking out when his pillow fort is stolen, shouting, "Did someone mention a bug collection?"

This was a scary episode for sure, in more ways than one. 🥶
I’d think Mosco’s theory is top for me. It does hold aspects of each character’s personality difficulties that would make sense for to develop a game for them, but went very wrong. So yeah, it does sound possible and maybe close to the real thing. Let’s see.
Also, let’s all agree Kinger and his wife deserves the world. 😢❤️

Body dysmorphia and gender dysphoria are different things. Dysmorphia is when you have an extreme cosmetic dislike of your body, dysphoria is when a trans/gender queer person feels out of place in there body do to its biological sex. Honestly Zooble could have both or either but I'm guessing since they use They/Them pronouns it's dysphoria. I can also relate to the idea of "non of the parts fitting" as a non-binary person. Caine is giving them a ton of parts (Witch I think is a metaphor for primary and secondary sex characteristics) but non of them feel right. They don't want any of the parts. They don't fit in the binary.

If you look at the digital circus merch store, look for the "checkmate" socks. Kinda hints at something terrible might happen

I agree with you about a large number of these, especially the 7 years of computer science!!
Also that last point I didnt even notice!! I did notice that he had a few bee references in this episode and was trying to work out if that was his way of saying hes just a worker bee, or theres some kind of hive mind?

I'm thinking Kinger and his wife where originally devs on the game. Equating someone who work on in-game bugs as an entomologist would be a clever way to do that. Kinger mentioned 7 years of computer sciences as well and maybe he had a minor in psychology potentially. Even Pomny has experience with gaming and bugs, so I think everyone here is a part of, at least, that sphere of experience in gaming and computers.
Also, thinking on the characters potential psychological diagnosis.
Pomni: general anxiety
Kinger: maybe dementia
Gangle: maybe bipolar
Ragatha: maybe sociotropy
Jax: likely sociopaty
Zooble: likely body dismorphia

Wait, you don't handle scary stuff well, but you used to be a zombie performer? What a beautiful contradiction.
Back in high school, the teacher had us watch Mean Girls (2004) in psychology class to analyze characters. If "The Amazing Digital Circus" is really a therapy VR gone awry (or worse, working as designed...), I wonder if psychology majors will ever have to watch it for homework.

I like the thought that Kinger was supposed to be the therapist. He certainly speaks like one, or a mentor, or a parental figure in this episode.
Alright. This episode has been rattling around in my brain for the past 18 hours. Time to throw shit at the wall and see what sticks.
-"7 years of computer science for this, huh?" I think we can almost confirm at this point that Kinger helped program the Circus.
-Was the story of Mildenhall meant to parallel Kinger's life? As Mildenhall talks about trying to defend his wife and "theoretical children", Kinger is protecting Pomni. Did Kinger kill his wife? Is Pomni one of his "theoretical children"? Was Queenie an avatar created by Kinger so he could see her one last time?
-"As long as you remember." Does Kinger mean someone remembering in general, or Pomni in specific? As has been brought up routinely, "pomni" means "remember". And if she is one of Kinger's "theoretical children", could she be his actual child, or a program made specifically to restore lost memory; To remember?
-"He just wants me to suffer!" Does Pomni know who Caine is? Does she have a prior relationship with who/whatever Caine is? Was Pomni sent here by her parent/mentor/therapist (Kinger?) with whom she had a strained / possibly abusive relationship?
-Does Caine have a boss? Are Caine's Adventures the glue holding this place together? Has anyone figured this out? Is this why everyone just goes along with it? Insanity is said to be doing the same thing over and over again but expecting different results. If they stop Adventuring and just going along with Caine's madness, does that break the cycle?
-Was Caine forgetting things because Zooble told him "Just forget it."? Does Zooble have some sort of admin access, or was this just Caine's programming following orders from one of the users?

I'm not sure that first one is particularly important. It just seems like standard Caine avoidance of his insecurities i.e. the quality of his adventures.

Two potentially important lines:
Cain: "How should I know, I'm not the boss (nervous laughter) oh wait, yes I am (more nervous laughter)."
Kinger: "Seven years of computer science for this?"
