After Steven tells her how Amythest almost died because he struggled with his powers, she realizes just how dangerous Steven’s life really is, how dangerous the world really is. She literally took the lenses out of her rose colored glasses.

Centipedle remembers when they fought before that she punched them with the gauntlets and so it takes the appearance of the gauntlets as a sign of aggression and that is why it freaks out.

Wouldn't want to get her hopes soaring above the clouds only to come splashing down. I'm just thrilled of what's to come beyond that! Next season, the real mystery begins! A Gem gets murdered like a fish! Of course, those troublemaking cool kids; Buck Dewey, Sour Cream, and Jenny Pizza are all Suspects. But we know the truth from the get-go. Sweet little Sadie is really the Killer!

2024-09-20 17:10:06 +0000 UTCThe indirect kiss episode has raised some questions with me that I hope get answered but may not. He healed her eyes, how?. As in the mechanics of the healing, did the magic spit detect a physical fault and correct it and if so where did it get the information on how to correct it. If Connie' s eye condition is due to an injury, infection or other physical trauma then the magic could have used her genetics as a blueprint to correct it to her "specifications". However if her condition is genetic then what the f##k did Steven just do. Change her genetics to a more optimum state, if so what else did it change in her body. Muscle growth, neural development, reproductive cycle and offspring optimisation, immune system and ageing, just some areas Steven may have affected. Where does the magic spit draw its pattern of "healed", clearly not stevens mind as it is very unlikely he understand biology and medicine enough to know what to do. Possibly the spit draws on the only template it has, Steven himself. However Steven is part Gem. They don't age are unaffected by sickness, poison or physical trauma save to the gem. So is stevens spit making Connie more gem. There are so many issues with this it is unreal. Also as a point all gems we have seen appear female with Steven as the exception we know nothing gem reproduction so who knows how magic healing from a monogendered race will handle a biological bi gendered species. I know this is a bit in depth but this happen when you watch kids shows as an adult and I find it fun.

He feels like he should miss her, but he can't really because he doesn't know her, and wishes he could have. It gets far more emotionally complex when you find out Greg, Rose, and Amethyst invented Chaps to be addictive to monsters, and then they realise humans love them too.

But man, there's some *heavy* foreshadowing in these - they made it waay too obvious that Connie would get lazer vison! I'm surprised none of us saw it coming..

I've been loving these reactions, Steven Universe was my first time getting into cartoons and it connects with me on a level that only the Owl house can rival. I eagerly await more episodes!! <3

2024-09-19 17:50:59 +0000 UTCMonster Buddies is one of those episodes of this show that really hits different on a rewatch - there are three or four things in it that will be recontextualised at different points later in the show - and that's all I'll say about that! The "Indirect Kiss" is a common anime trope. SU draws a lot on anime, sometimes in more subtle ways than others. The central premise "magical girl squad that saves the world repeatedly" is the most obvious one. Sugar's twist on this is: "...and then, after so long together, their beloved leader is gone, leaving behind her infant son. Now what?!"

This show does really well with showing Steven's inner turmoil as he navigates his powers and questions his identity.

2024-09-19 16:33:29 +0000 UTC“I wonder if there’s a reason [why Pearl is so protective]?” Most definitively yes. There are very few things in this show that don’t have a reason or a justification. Except Onion, he’s just a menace. That’s one of the things I really love about this show, how well everything works together given the characters’ motivations. I highly suggest that you rewatch the series once you’re done, you’ll see stuff that you didn’t think much about or that seemed strange that suddenly makes all the sense in the world.

A lot of reactions barely discuss the shows they watch but you theory craft and breakdown what’s happened. Also, will say again that the extended intro is worth watching after the Season 2 episode Reformed and before Sworn to the sword.
