She may not be an immediate favourite at the beginning of the show because she may appear at first as "the serious/ organized" one, but it's so easy to grow fond of her as you see how fleshed out she actually is. She's caring, both sensitive and sensible (and her relationship with Steven is a bliss to watch in that regard), both awkward and attuned to others' emotions, while still having a bratty and "show off" side, she overdoes herself out of doubting her own abilities to support the ones she loves and thrives to inspire them as much as they inspire her (as shown in her song in that episode). I decided to give SU a shot after you started reacting to it, and I'm glad I discovered such an endearing show and a character who's easily in my top 5 animated characters

A min/maxed character build. A glass cannon in a sense. Great at wrecking house, but not much else. Whereas, if Garnet were to ever fuse with Pearl, the resulting Fusion would probably still be powerful, but also controlled, surgical, and graceful among other adjectives. Sadly, this Fusion is left to the speculative and oft sardonic realm of fanon. What might have been.

A lot of people misconstrued fusion to mean sex and used that to sh*t on the show a few years ago because they could...it's just propaganda made up by the haters

He went on to do backgrounds for The Owl House. Look up his website for some lovely line art from both shows! The gems, as I think you have previously touched on, are Rebecca Sugar herself in different modes of "Big Sister". Pearl, as the bossy, controlling aspect, also shows the insecurity that goes along with that role, particularly in this episode: knowing she *can't* be the cool wise one or the playful adventurous one, she fears that she might therefore be the least favourite. Of course, the role also means she is the one that has to step in and take responsibility when no-one else will - even at great danger to herself. Strong in the real way, indeed.

One passage can be extremely cute, another really contemplative (and given the backgrounds, we're not going to complain), but in terms of anxiety and chills, the series also stands there. It's the way the colorimetry plays in this series, which is masterful in my opinion. In any case, I'm happy to see that you liked "Strong in the Real Way", it's one of the SU songs that I like the most, but after this episode, I can't wait for you to get to the Mr. Greg episode (but it's in season 3, so we have time), it also contains one of my top SU songs.

Pearl is my favorite character, i used to not enjoy her as much when i first watched the show as a kid but when rewatching as a teen she became my favorite instantly, she can be very misunderstood by some people, but i completely adore her

It's like how in a relationship you can become codependent and forget how to stand on your own. I really love how this show explores different relationships and their effects on the people in them.

That's why Pearl covered Steven's eyes, Garnet and Amethyst were kinda fucking on the beach there for a minute.
