Good Omens s1 ep2 The Book, Full, Early, Uncut

I’m pretty sure the window gag is mostly just a gag but given Newton can kill technology so easily I like to imagine he managed to break the CGI from within the scene lol

Connor Black

I don't know if it's just me or if it's a feature of the video, but every time you walk away from the screen, the subtitle "Thank you for watching!" pops up and stays there until the next actual subtitle loads. It's freaking hilarious.

I feel like I should point out that the vast majority of the script was written by the lat, great Sir Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman. It was less of a script writer for the first season and more of a script editor...

Whiskey Jak

Also the ineffable idiots, mostly on account of how everyone but those two realise it

Left in the car for a fortnight, just some clarification

If you say "A Zero Fail" you'll be close enough to Aziraphale. The publisher sent a letter saying they'd be sure the book would sell a lot of copies. Their prophecy did not come true - it didn't sell a single one. That's why Aziraphale tells the caller that no-one has a copy.

Also, the reason Crowley listens to so much Queen in the car is not because he's a particular fan — he's more of a classical music kind of demon — but because any tape left in a car long enough will spontaneously transmogrify into a Best of Queen album, regardless of what was originally recorded onto it.

The caller looking for the Nice and Accurate Prophesies was one of Anathema's relatives. Having studied the book before, they knew she'd lose it and "Azzy" would obtain it, so they were trying to get it back for her. They just misjudged the timing and phoned a day too early, is all.

One of my favorite lines from the book is where Crowley and Aziraphale are dropping Anathema off at her cottage. After Crowley says "Get in, angel," there is a line from Anathema’s perspective (who has been internally suspicious of them the entire car ride) that says: 'Ah, well that explained it. She had been perfectly safe after all." Even Anathema ships it 😂

Beckers

I can't wait for Mosco to get to the episode where Aziraphale and Crowley for a union that they were originally going to call Lesbians and Gays save Mankind, but Aziraphale reminds Crowley they already were in a group called LGSM in the 80s so they need to change the name

Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett definitely gave this show a unique style of humor, though Terry is sadly no longer with us. RIP. And don't worry, literally the entire Fandom ships Crowley and Aziraphale. We call them "The Ineffable Husbands".

It's funny that a lot of people's first exposure to David Tenant is The Doctor, who is ... usually a good person. But he plays bad guys so well. The Witch Finder Sergeant Shadwell got a cuppa tea earlier in the episode with nine sugars when he first met Pulsifer; that's how he knew.

Ryan Porter

The show never says who called him, in the book it's stated that about a dozen people actually care about it in the modern day so it was probably some grumpy Book collector, there's a fun fan theory about it that I can tell you next episode without spoiling anything

Lin

Their ship name is the ineffable husbands, btw

Ashley Silver

Pretty sure it was confirmed that he gives them to an elderly neighbour as they're clearly not growing properly in his place so they may elsewhere

Phoenix Mackenzie

I'm sure you'll appreciate the widespread headcanon that Crowley doesn't *actually* kill his plants. He let's the others think that, but replants the one that 'disappointed' him outside, drapes a leather jacket over it, and tells ot, "You're Fallen now, congratulations."

Tristan Haller

"Does anybody else ship it?" No. No one. Not a soul. You're the first I've heard make mention of it. Unrelated, have you talked to Morgan recently? I'm sure they're feeling perfectly normal about this show and said ship in particular.

Joey Quixote

Yep definitely shipping these two

Scott

that's because Gaiman made sure the series happened as a last wish to Pratchett. When it came to what went in and what was cut he made sure that any Pratchett contribution had priority of his.

largo778 .

GNU Terry Pratchett

largo778 .

the entire fandom ships Aziraphale and Crowley don't worry lol

NatMcK7

Shadwell ordered a tea with nine sugars from that food truck when Newton first met him, and he remembered that detail

NatMcK7

Anathema is played by Adria Arjona, who is an amazing actress. She is so good in Andor.

William Timmins

You can definitely thank Terry Pratchett for a lot of the humor in Good Omens much of which carried over into season 1. Gaiman's good too but as someone who is more familiar with Pratchett's brand of humor I think a lot of credit goes to him. RIP Pratchett

NatMcK7

As you have spotted in the intro, the series was (co-)written by the great Neil Gaiman. He also wrote the book it is based on, together with the just as great, but sadly late, Terry Pratchett.

Flix

good show
