I gotta say it's interesting to see mostly american characters argue about capital punishment and what is and isn't cruel and unusual punishment. Just about every civilized country on the planet has abolished the death penalty except for the US. How is the electric chair any better than being fed to the wraith?

I think the answer is simple, it's for us, the audience, so we can see it enter and exit the gate, it wouldn't look right to just show nothing lol. It's just for TV.

could perhaps have something to do with sensors in the gate not being able to properly scan a cloaked object entering the gate so it might not get put back together properly. Then again Nirrti went through cloaked, as well as reetou. Could be a different type of cloak. The gate might not even work that way. Could just be something like doing so could damage the cloak generator. Hard to say.

There's actually an easter egg related to this. If you transliterate some of the ancient writing in the jumper, it reads (in English) "Never attempt gate reentry when in cloak". I don't think it's ever explicitly stated in the show, but that seems to hint at there being some science-y reason the jumpers can't go through cloaked.

I don't have much to say about this ep, it's not of my interest, the whole wrongly imprisoned prisoners thing is very cliche. I guess a nice intro to having Ronin on the team now.

It was a small thing, but I really loved seeing Weir in an off-world combat situation taking orders from Sheppard without question. We've seen a lot of butting heads over command from them in the past, but she knew those were his calls to make in this situation and didn't hesitate or ask questions.
