finally buffy+spike is a thing. hahaha,,, how the turns have tabled. tara is the best most wholesome carracter tho imo!

2022-09-17 23:45:04 +0000 UTCI feel like Buffy's issue is more about a kind of self-hatred. Her whole life has been about being the 'good' guy who fights monsters and vampires, then she comes back and suddenly she feels out of place with the 'good' regular humans and the only times she feels something are with Spike or when around the darker world. Her dynamic with Spike is toxic, but I think the idea that she knows how awful he is, the things he's done, but someone like that is drawn to her, and worse, she is drawn to him. And the chip situation showed that Spike has changed yes, but like he said in 6.1 when watching the gangs tear up a house and thinking it looks fun, he is 'evil' still. He makes some different choices now because of Buffy, but he's not suddenly become a person uninterested in murder and mayhem. How could Buffy consider herself 'good' and 'human' if she is drawn to this creature- because she also can't see or accept love and help very easily- and because Spike is non-human she allows herself to take out her inner stuff on him without feeling so guilty. It's basically all toxic this ep.
