Reminds me of a story from The Expanse where Wes Chatham actually got punched by accident but he was so into his character in the scene that he just kept going and they used the take.

2020-08-28 10:24:42 +0000 UTCI have heard that apparently, when Buffy walked up behind Faith in the library and startled her, Eliza Dushku was supposed to pretend hitting her, but she accidentally hit Sarah across the face. They managed to stay in character and finish the scene.

2020-08-28 00:59:30 +0000 UTCI have mixed feelings about this one. I liked Platt, and wish they'd kept him around; he would have made a good sounding board for Buffy's issues. I think my biggest problem with this episode is that all the serious drama was about people we only ever saw here. The Oz plot is good, but too dependent on the kind of overblown after school special A plot.

As Giles says, he'd lose his "self" but he is redeemable. That's the whole point, he can come back from the savagery he had to live while in that demon dimension.

2020-08-27 00:40:37 +0000 UTCI think Angel being all feral makes perfect sense, even if it is rather convenient to the plot. If he was in some hellish dimension for hundreds of years, you'd figure he'd have to become like that to survive. It probably just took him that long to start to remember his previous life. I think when he attacked steroid dude he was just acting on instinct to protect Buffy. If anything is unrealistic(aside from the obvious) to me here it's that he regained any semblance of sanity as fast as he did.

2020-08-27 00:02:20 +0000 UTCI think wanted to do a literal Jekyll and Hyde as well as a figurative one. I think once that element is introduced, the story picks up quite a bit. This one is ruthlessly grim so the funny parts (like Giles getting knocked out via tranq gun) hit really well but the whodunnit elements don't work very well for me. I think Debbie was supposed to be a Red Herring, but she never made herself obvious enough or aggressive enough for us to think it was actually her in the first place. The twist is supposed to be "Oh, it's not Debbie, it's her boyfriend". But we never really suspect Debbie with Oz and Angel running around. Also, I hate how quickly they killed off the consoler. Having him still holding his cigarette was a nice touch, but it would have had such a better impact if we'd gotten to know him for more than 1 scene.
