Such a difference from the beginning of the series. Boruto plays it off as he knew that they would let him move on for saving the other chunin candidate. But I'm pretty sure he didn't know and he wasn't complaining or raising cane about how he did more and deserved to move ahead. He was sitting alone in the back and had accepted that he failed. That was huge growth for him. Also I love how all of these genin cheer each other on. They're such positive support for each other. You can feel their friendship everytime they're on screen together.

The snake Boruto befriended was more of a callback to Garaga, from the Hidden Stone arc.

I also found it really interesting how it seemed money was more motivating for these kids than like striving to be a chunin to better protect the village. A lot of people will dunk on Boruto for this reason and say that this generation is not REAL ninja (like in OG Naruto) but the thing is.....this kind of peace and low stakes is EXACTLY what Naruto wanted to achieve as Hokage so it kind of does make sense. He would not have wanted his kids and their generation to have the same kind of chunin exam that he did lmao.

I noticed some subtle callbacks here and there to early days of Boruto like Boruto motivating Denki like on EP 1 and him knowing how to counter bugs this time around which he learned vs Shino back on EP 5, and Naruto and Boruto chunin exam convo etc. It will be nice to see how everyone has grown so far since early Boruto.

Yeah, there’s been anime original episodes but as far as arc, it’s the first all year. As far as directly manga related, the first in two.

Interesting enough this is the first fully anime canon arc since the year started I think lol and considering that the anime is only like 5 chapters behind the manga (So maybe 4 or 5 episodes) and considering the manga is a monthly release we're looking ay maybe a full year of pure anime content and mixed fillers this 2022. There is, however, a rumor that's been going around that we'll get the Retsuden novels animated next year which if so then we're looking forwards to some HELLA fire content with that alone.
