2025-12-03 00:35:17 +0000 UTCHere is a little more explanation to what the Ryougi family did and what they were trying to achieved. Ryougi as explained before is one of the four demon hunter families in Japan, and they focus on two things. (The term demon here can refer to anything nonhuman). One of them is autosuggestion, which you already saw in the fifth movie, and the other is being jack-of-all-traits by having dual personalities. One person can only learn so many things, but by having dual personalities, they can double the amount of things one can learn. Of course, having dual personalities tend to make people go crazy, and so the Ryougi family members usually doesn't end well. In order to have a perfect container for dual personalities, they need a perfect child with no origin so that it is void of any impurities, and that is Shiki. Usually counterforce would not allow such a child to exist, since it would create a direct path to the Root, but the Ryougi family succeeded after countless generations of experiments on themselves. If they are mages, they would have reached the Root at this point (which is what Araya tried to do it in the fifth movie), but they are not mages and have no interest in the Root. They only see it as a perfect container for dual personalities. More over, the Ryougi family is no longer even in the demon hunter business, but it is now a Yukuza organization, so they might not even have the knowledge anymore to realize they reached the Root.

And since the Root is the origin of all phenomena in the universe she's... you know... pretty much God. This is the epilogue of the original series. Mirai Fukuin are novels that came with the movies and were later adapted as well.
