Kaiki Deishuu: "Good things should eventually happen to her as long as she's alive, don't you think?" And hey! Let's not frame getting Yaosobi on the ED as 'ditching' ClariS and whatnot! It's just that Yaosobi were SUPER desperate to get WITH NisiOisiN! They were absolutely honored to be allowed that opportunity, and NisiOisiN felt their passion to such a degree that NisiOisiN wrote a personal short story for YOASOBI to show his appreciation for their efforts in making the song UNDEAD for the Monogatari: Off Season ED! Also, let's not muddy the waters with undefined terms in regards to 'learning'. All 'trauma' is learning. If you want to run fast, you need to hurt your legs in a manner where the trauma will allow you to run faster. If you want to learn how to play guitar, you have to endure physical trauma to the point where your fingers bleed and in that trauma comes calluses and finger memorization. If you want to talk get better at talking to people, you have to endure the trauma of *actually talking to people.* It goes for everything, which is why this episode ended the way it did. There is no such thing as 'learning' without trauma to some degree. From THERE you can start talking about 'constructive' lessons versus 'destructive' lessons.

Sengoku Nadeko is my IDEAL Wife!!

recs; for something similar to Monogatari, Bunny Girl Senpai would be great. Shows in general I'd love to see here - Lycoris Recoil, Girls Last Tour, A Place Further Than The Universe, Land of the Lustrous, Tsuredure Children (this one ain't ever winning a poll but it's sickeningly sweet and super short), Ya Boy Kongming

The most obvious recommendation is Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai. It's like Monogatari lite. And it's good. Also, Steins;Gate (why not?). Not exactly similar but really great - Gurren Lagann, Kill la Kill.

I recommend Girls Last Tour. Although it would also be a good replacement for Girls Und Panzer too. Its a well written slice of life about two girls living in a post apocalyptic wasteland

It's not lazy, again, it's a deliberate choice. Just because in-universe it doesn't necessarily make sense that doesn't make it lazy, Monogatari is meta enough for this to be a totally consistent writing choice. And not unreliable narration either, as the technology does sometimes play a role in the story.

With this adaptation order in the anime, Novel Order snobs (like me lmao) are forced to simply cope and seethe. They're not just adapting the books out of order, they're doing it to the parts of the books too! Maybe when this picks back up the novel order will be watchable and the watch order discussion will be reinvigorated for another decade. There will presumably be more of the anime, but I can't seem to find a verified release date or announcement for the second cour. Unfortunately, the official translations of the books stopped at Zoku (for now), and I don't know Japanese well enough to read them (yet), so I can't really weigh on why the order is so much different. You might not want to look into what those differences are yet just in case there are spoilers.

I totally recommend Katanagatari! It's got some of the same charm as this show, but a lot to love on its own as well.

Perhaps another case of unreliable narrator? Even if the supposed "real events" happened in the actual chronological year, the narrating character's account of those events may be colored by the more recent social and technological advancements at the time the story is being told? Or maybe Nisio Isin was just a little lazy, who knows.

Have you watched Lycoris Recoil? I think it would be a good choice. Also, I can recommend Tatami Galaxy if you want something similar to Monogatari. It's one of the funniest anime I have ever seen.

The copyright around Uma Musume is apparently extremely harsh so that will need to be on the Patreon exclusive poll!

Mat

As far as I know this opening was added in the Blu-Ray version and isn't in the original web release.

Mat

Ayo what the hell? I didn't know this had an opening :o edit: if you're interested in Nadeko's manga, it actually exists. It's called "Kimi to Nadekko! Sengoku Nadeko", it's got three chapters

FriedRice

I highly recommend watching Uma Musume! Uma Musume has some of the best animation sequences I have ever seen in anime!

Now would probably be a good time to tell you that your perception that Monogatari is canonically supposed to be taking place in 2006/2007 is quite wrong. In terms of dates, yes, Araragi's final year of high school was modelled after 2006, but that is not actually how the series is written. Monogatari takes place on a floating timeline, basically it always takes place at the moment that the novel was written. So for Tsukihi Undo, making a comparison to 2007 is not correct. The novel it was written in, Orokamonogatari, came out in 2015, so that's when the arc "takes place" in terms of technology level etc. It doesn't make sense in terms of how much time actually passes in universe, but it's a deliberate writing choice
