Divine Awakening - Chapter 51

Ash stood in the torch-lit tunnel, his quiet breathing so soft it didn’t echo off the stone walls. The air held the faint scent of incense as smoke from the torches overpowered his sweat covered body. The moisture trickled down his forehead, dripping to the floor and mingling with the sand and dust. He should’ve waited until after his practice to shower with the flask.

The two hours of Bamboo Viper Step practice had passed quickly, and Ash’s muscles no longer tingled with the residual energy of the swift, serpentine movements. In the past, he’d liked starting with Bamboo Steps, warming up his body before the precise techniques of the Viper Steps pushed his speed, agility, and focus to their limits.

Grandmaster Echo had advised Ash to begin with Viper and end with Bamboo and he had to admit it made the conclusion of the forms far more pleasant. He felt relaxed, but not tired, and didn’t contain a body full of energy that needed draining.

Ash exhaled slowly, allowing his thumping heart to settle. He closed his eyes for a moment, letting the silence envelop him like a comforting blanket. He’d made progress on all his mistakes and completely fixed the first ten percent. If he’d remained at home with far more time to practice, he’d already be finished.

Now Ash needed to train his chakras.

With practiced ease, Ash transitioned into the slow, fluid forms his grandfather had made him repeat relentlessly. The tai-chi-like movements felt familiar but remained mysterious. For so much of his life, he’d performed these movements without question, the movements routine and lifeless. Now, with the world upside down, he concentrated on perfection, honing his focus as he tried to make up for years of lackadaisical practice.

Ash breathed deeply as his arms rose gracefully, cutting through the air with deliberate intention. Each movement balanced and controlled, his body resonated in harmony with an unseen rhythm.

The first form began with a slow sweep, Ash’s right arm crossing in front of his torso, palm facing outward as if pushing away an invisible force. His left hand mirrored the motion, creating a symmetrical flow that vibrated deep within him.

Ash remembered countless hours under his grandfather's watchful eye. The old man's stern gaze and words that struck like the rap of a wooden cane improved his form. Yet, despite all the practice, Ash had never understood the true purpose of these movements. They seemed out of place among the more practical Step techniques of the Bamboo Viper Clan.

Elder Phoenix had been equally puzzled when Ash demonstrated these forms, despite knowing the mystical practices of many types of magic users. That these movements remained unfamiliar to the elder only deepened the questions surrounding them.

As Ash transitioned between each sequence, his senses sharpened. He heard the soft whisper of air as his hands sliced gently through it. The faint rustle of his boxers accompanied each shift of his body. Even the occasional pop from the torches seemed to align with his movement.

Ash's mind drifted away from thoughts of his grandpa and into a meditative state. The forms guided him inward, each motion unlocking doors within his consciousness. He felt a stirring at the base of his spine—a warm, swirling energy that coiled like a serpent on a hot stone.

The sensation intensified, radiating from Ash’s Root chakra. It pulsed with vitality, anchoring him to the surrounding stone. A deep red glow manifested in his mind's eye, as the Awakened chakra responded to him. Stability and strength coursed through him, filling him with a profound sense of security.

Ash continued, his movements remaining slow and deliberate. As his hands rose above his head in a graceful arc, a prickling between his eyebrows started. His Third Eye, always aware, opened wider, casting an indigo hue across his inner vision. Intuition blossomed, revealing glimpses of truths hidden beyond the physical realm and hundreds of paths for his feet to trod.

Images flashed in Ash’s Third Eye—strange symbols, swirling galaxies, and pathways of light connecting the universe's secrets. The Awakening of his Third Eye had brought clarity, but still failed to perceive the other layers of reality that surrounded him.

Ash lowered his arms, bringing his hands to rest gently over his throat. His Throat Chakra had transitioned from Dormant to Activated, and a vibrant blue energy appeared like a clear sky after a storm. Communication and expression flowed freely, and for the first time he felt the urge to speak truths he’d acknowledged but never affirmed. His grandpa had always encouraged this, but Ash had, as usual, resisted.

Ash whispered words without conscious thought: "I am connected. I am aware."

Moving his hands downward, Ash placed them over his Solar Plexus. A warm, golden light ignited within, like the first rays of dawn. Confidence and purpose surged through him; determination followed, reinforcing his will.

Ash breathed deeply, warm air filling his lungs with rejuvenating energy. Subtle scents of the dungeon appeared, hints of citrus and spice, masked under the heavier smell of incense.

A quietness surrounded Ash’s Sacral chakra. The area remained Dormant, a muted area where creative energy sluggishly flowed and only his passion created waves. He acknowledged its presence and its faint orange light without frustration. Activation and then Awakening would arrive in their own time.

Ash’s hands moved to his chest, hovering over his Heart chakra. The green energy there rippled as spikes of emotion speared him: love for Grandpa Pine, a different type of love for Maria, despair at the loss of his mother, and confused bitterness surrounding his father. The chakra remained Dormant, waiting for the right moment to bloom. A longing stirred within him—a desire for connection that lay buried.

Focusing upward, Ash concentrated on his Crown chakra. He could barely sense it. He imagined a lotus bud atop his head, petals tightly closed. This chakra also remained Dormant, its energy yet to unfold. Determination washed over him as he recognized the difficult journey ahead.

Finally, Ash contemplated the Divine chakra, the highest point of spiritual connection. It remained distant, an ethereal concept he barely grasped. It existed above him, a bridge to the greater universe, but it waited, invisible and uncrossable. Impatience passed through him leaving only acceptance of the long path he had yet to walk.

Completing the final movements, Ash stood still, his arms resting gently at his sides. The energies within him settled, each chakra resonating at its own frequency. The Awakened and Activated chakras hummed softly, creating a harmonious inner melody.

Ash opened his eyes, allowing the dungeon to come back into focus. The torches cast elongated shadows that flickered upon the walls.

A subtle vibration hummed beneath Ash’s feet, as if the dungeon acknowledged his progress and wished to whisper ancient secrets to him. He knelt, placing a hand on the cold stone. The surface felt alive, a network of energies coursing through it like veins.

For the next hour, Ash repeated the movements. When he finished, he contemplated his grandfather's teachings once again. These tai-chi-like forms were more than exercises—they illuminated paths to inner power and understanding.

Ash settled himself onto the cold, dry stone floor of the dungeon tunnel, crossing his legs and straightening his spine. For the next hour he would meditate. Filling his lungs with deep breaths, he placed his hands on his knees, palms facing upward, fingers forming precise gestures his grandfather had taught him long ago.

Ash closed his eyes, the flickering torchlight fading away, the only sound the steady beat of his heart. He inhaled slowly, drawing the dry, subterranean air deep into his lungs, then exhaled, releasing tension with each measured breath.

Humming a low, resonant note, Ash guided the rippling vibration in his chest downward, focusing it on his Root chakra. The glowing red orb at the base of his spine responded to his humming, the vibrations stimulating his Root chakra, causing its warmth to spread, grounding and connecting him to the solid stone beneath.

Before shifting to the next chakra, Ash chanted softly, ancient syllables rolling off his tongue with practiced ease. Each word carried intention, revealing hidden power within.

Ash adjusted his hand position, pressing the tips of his thumbs against his index fingers, forming a circle. He shifted to a slightly higher pitch, directing the vibration to his lower abdomen. Though his Sacral chakra remained Dormant, he sensed a subtle stirring, as the humming-vibrations forced a response.

Once again, Ash chanted, this time longer, trying to rouse his Dormant chakra.

Ash formed a triangle with his fingers and placed it over his Solar Plexus, the pitch of his hum rising again. A golden light blossomed within him, radiating confidence and personal power. The warmth spread outward, filling him with determination. The Activated chakra responded far better than his Dormant ones, illustrating the importance of advancing all his chakras.

More chants, which agitated the Solar Plexus even further.

Ash brought his hands to his chest, pressing his palms together in a position of prayer, thumbs resting against his sternum. He took a deep breath and focused on his Heart chakra as the pitch of his humming increased further. Although still Dormant, he stirred the faint green energy clinging gently to the chakra.

The chants had more effect on his Heart than they’d had on his Sacral chakra.

Ash interlaced his fingers as his thumb-tips touched. Placing his hands over his Throat chakra, he produced a clear tone. The vibration tickled his vocal cords, and a cool energy swirled around his neck. His Activated Throat chakra responded strongly to the humming.

The Throat chakra chants almost made Ash choke as energy pooled in his neck.

Ash’s middle fingers touched a point between his eyebrows. He increased his pitch, and his newly Awakened Third Eye opened wide. Indigo light illuminated his inner vision. Intuition sharpened, and he sensed the truths hidden deeper in the dungeon.

The Third Eye chants swelled the dense indigo energy, and Ash only performed one set. He feared stimulating Third Eye too much after such a recent Awakening might create problems.

He placed his hands palm up on his knees, fingers relaxed. He concentrated on the Crown chakra at the top of his head. Though Dormant, he sensed the subtle tingling sensation along his scalp. Wisps of purple light snaked around the dark chakra.

Crown chants did little to excite the chakra from its lethargic state, and Ash accepted how much work remained to Activate and then Awaken the chakra.

Ash focused on the final chakra above his body. The Divine chakra had rarely responded to his meditation or chants, and today was no exception. It was hard enough to reach a chakra inside his body, and the extra hurdle of crossing outside made the task seem impossible.

The dungeon around Ash faded further as he descended deeper into his meditation. He continued to hum and chant, each note and word intentional, each gesture deliberate. Time lost meaning as he immersed himself fully, the boundaries between his physical form and the energies within blurring.

Eventually Ash’s chants quieted, and his humming faded. He sat in silence, focusing on his breathing, and the gentle rise and fall of his chest. A profound peace settled over him, a clarity of mind and purpose he hadn't felt before.

The forms and mediation always felt the same to Ash, almost redundant. Grandpa had said once Ash had two Awakened chakras things would change. This was the first time he’d done his chakra routine since Awakening his Third Eye.

Something had felt different this time, but Ash couldn’t isolate anything specific. Grandpa had left Ash information in the package stored in his pack and he hoped it included further instructions on what to do with two Awakened chakras.

Ash had received multiple Notifications, and he studied the summarized view with satisfaction.

Chakra Alignment: 3% (+1%)

Chakra Sifting Effectiveness: 2% (+1%)

Dormant Chakra Progress

Sacral: 89% (+1%)

Heart: 68% (+2%)

Crown: 8% (+1%)

Divine: 1% (no progress)

Activated Chakra Progress

Solar Plexus: 84% (+3%)

Throat: 76% (+4%)

Awakened Chakra Progress

Root Level 1: 26% (+3%)

Third Eye Level 1: 4% (+4%)

The displayed improvements made a huge difference in Ash’s attitude. It was so much easier to stay focused and excited when you could view incremental gains like this. The chakra alignment and sifting effectiveness had both increased, which almost never happened. He wondered if it related to possessing two Awakened chakras now.

Ash checked the clock under his map. Four hours had passed, leaving him plenty of time to practice the forms Elder Phoenix had taught him.
