scra and ree watching ky on Keelee’s bed. 

ree [to scra]: I’ve been sent to get you.

S: right.

[walking through tunnels, scra rubbing the inside of his arm where there’s a bandage]

S: Farrah’s summoning me? Has she got the blood results back yet?

R: No, she’s still holed up in the lab with the other nerds. You’re wanted in the infirmary. Something about that rod shoved up your ass?

S: harhar, I’m not half as stuck up as you and I’m a king supposedly. Whoever wants me can’t meet somewhere less creepy?

R: They probably could, but there’s someone there who’s pretty set on seeing you.

S: who -

[enters med bay, beds line the cave walls with equipment between. seaka and Nol helping old crows. Neekia and Deacon lean by a bed. Pak sits up]

S: P-Pak??!

[stumbles to bed, unsure. Pak smiles sadly and reaches up for him, Scra melts in his embrace]

P: It is good to see you, my boy. Good indeed.

S: I thought - I saw the - 

Neekia: Pak was captured by Doves during the Crow Island raid. They kept him in labs since.

S: Labs? For what?

D: That is what we’re trying to figure out. 

N: [pushes off wall and stretches] Anyway, we’re off. 

S: where are you going?

N: [looks at deacon] we’ve got a mission to…infiltrate a Corvid rally and see what they’re yelling about. 

S: what?? You, two of the highest ranking members of the BlackAsh Murder? Arguably as recognizable as Cyras? Sneaking into a rally full of Corvids on the brink of war?

D: we’re not sneaking. We want them to know we’re there, and that they have options.

N: Namely, to not follow that psycho Magpie and get themselves killed trying to fight the whole government army alone.

S: how are you gonna -

[Del enters carrying bedsheets]

D: [to nurse] Here are the new linens, where do you want them?

nurse: Just in the cabinet, could you grab the bedpans and pass them out while you’re there?

D: no prob.

[Nol watches, surprised.]

Cepni walks by the entrance and pokes her head in

C: how is every -

[tiraa rushes up to her]

T: Cepni, the lab has some questions, where are those Doves we captured from that temple?

C: Doves? We have no record of any Dove prisoners.

[tiraa catches Dels eye. Del sneers]

D: I knew it. I knew that Strawberry Boy was shifty.

T [to Del]: figure out what he’s done with them.

D: m-me?

T: Assemble a small squad. You’re in charge. Report back to me.

D: I-I…

T: you’ve proven yourself on missions, with me and the Major. I have full confidence in you.

D: I - [glances to Nol, to Scra]

Cepni: Now, Squad Leader. 

D: y-yes, ma’am. 

[Del leaves. Tiraa turns to Ree]

T: you were your year’s Flock Leader at The Roost, right? I need your help with mission prep.

R: I, uh, yeah. sure. Let’s -

[Ky appears in the doorway. everyone pauses, staring at him]

K: I’m going to find her.

T: I’m going too -

Cep: you are not. You are required here, as I have said.

T: that’s -

R: then I’m -

K: You all stay here and help the Resistance. 

S: ky -

K: she’s my responsibility. I need to do this. 

S: I…ok. ok. 

[Ky leaves. Scra turns to Deacon and Neekia]

S: I’m going with you.

N: kid, what -

S: I grew up as they did, and I’ve been to The Roost, I know what kind of forces the government has. I’ve been to Avarie, too. I know what kind of life might await them there. If they want war, the only way they’ll win is by teaming up with the Resistance, or staying out of their way. This is the only way I can help. Please. 

D [looks at neekia, smirking]: We hoped you’d say that.

Kydad sneering at kygdad through the bars of his cell. 

kdad: - how does that sound, old man? Everything you’ve worked your entire life for, gone -

ky: Garrek.

kydad startles: what’re you -  how - 

Ky: Keelee is missing. You are coming with me to find her.

kydad: oh really? how’d you figure that?

Ky: because you have no other use here, and all you have ever done is fail her. You owe her this one act of selflessness. 

kydad: well, if it gets me out these damn tunnels, who am I to pass that up?

gdad: do not let him go. 

kdad: sorry, Father. You’ve got no control over us, anymore.
