garrek being escorted down prison corridors, eyes ahead. neekia watches him go by, eyebrow raised. he gets shoved into a cell. kys grandfather appears

GF: will you ever cease being such an embarrassing disgrace. 

G: hello, father

GF: threatening to blackmail the Director in front of her own son, i am disgusted. what part of my instructions to you were difficult to grasp?

G: your instructions were to cow and bow and grovel to the ex wife of the eagle my wife cheated on me with - how exactly did you think my pride would cope with going through with that -

GF: I HAD hoped your education i paid for would've taught you that sometimes, in order to stay alive, you have to put your pride aside and close that profane mouth of yours for once in your life.

G: my life - and what HAS become of my life after i came to this island? nothing but hiding and quaking in fear of some Eagle -

GF: and drinking to excess, from what i’ve heard. a filthy and useless habit. and look where it has gotten you.

G: what does it matter - it’s not like I won’t be released after a little slap on the wrist and sent home to waste the rest of my life away, since that useless son of mine took -

GF: oh, you won’t be leaving, im afraid. 

G: w -

GF: you’re much less of an hindrance here, where i can see you and keep you quiet. no, you won’t be going anywhere

G: father -

GF: i hope it was all worth it. and i feel inclined to remind you that i did not ask you to follow me here - that seems to be another mistake that pride of yours has led you to. i hope this experience introduces you to humility. unfortunately i wont be around to witness any growth that may occur. Goodbye, son. (leaves)

G: FATHER! FATHER!

person in next cell: that dad of yours sounds like a real hard-ass.

G: he’ll be back, when he decides ive been punished enough, he’ll come and release me. im sure of it. 

brek, cyras, tiraa and sparrows sitting around fire at night in wastelands as sun starts rising.

S: warm up then get some sleep, there’re protein bars in the bag.

T: how’re we still not at the headquarters, we’ve been flying all night -

S: we got a late start, and obviously can’t fly during the day due to guard patrols. we’ll set off again at sunset, arriving around midnight if everything goes accordingly. sleep. (walks off)

B: it feels weird to have a sparrow talk to us like that.

T: it feels weird having YOU talk to me at all. After I said no to helping you look for your dad…and no to running away with you at my wedding, i figured you never would again.

B: yeah, well, we’re all here now. including what looks like a Murder Boss? explain.

T: I…needed Cyras to help me with something. Im fulfilling my debt back to him…but i also just, like, know too much now, you know? 

B: you know about the crow king too?

T: the…what? You know about Avarie, right?

B: Ava - what?

T: Icarus, ok, we’ll catch each other up on the rest of the flight.

B: I’m not sure your scary Murder Boss seems keen on that idea

T: (turns to see cyras watching them from a rock) fortunately i dont care about his opinion. he’s…made enough of his own questionable decisions (thinks of lyr saying it was still fucked he made the other crows kill people).

B: …what’s going on between you two?

T: w-we’re work partners with a common goal, that’s all. 

B: (locks eyes with cyras) whatever you say.

(night, them flying. cyras approaches tiraa)

C: what were you Eagles talking about, earlier?

T: just catching up. 

C: oh? when did you last see him?

T: my…wedding.

C: he wasn’t in the audience.

T: ….he came to see me, before he left to look for his father, the old Commissioner.

C: (smirks) he asked you to run away with him, i bet

T:...i turned him down, again. (cyras shocked he was right)

C: why? surely that wouldve been a better outcome for you than what you’re currently doing? or marrying the director’s son?

T: there was a time when i would’ve said yes to him. but he didnt fight for me when i needed him to, needed him to show he cared about me. this new rebelliousness of his came too late

C: and now you resent him for it?

T: it hurt that i, and our friendship, meant so little to him, i guess. it’s stupid, looking back on it. our lives and problems are so much more insignificant than all of this other stuff going on.

C: you can’t disregard your own feelings just because there are bigger things happening with other people.

T: oh? why dont you take your own advice on that one, for once.

C: …the sentiment doesnt apply to me.

T: because you made your found family kill people. and now they’re locked away due to your orders.

C:...exactly. (flies off. tiraa watches him, conflicted. brek watches)
