Sword is equal to Wand, Chapter 12

Elemental Harmonization was the last class I had today, and it was with the milfy Professor McGonagall... Which for someone who grew up watching the Harry Potter movies in his previous life. She didn't really look too much like the actress anyway, even subtracting like forty years off her appearance.

Even then though, there was no missing the severe air and posture she carried herself with as her eye's snapped up to mine as I was the first one to enter the classroom, as we were supposed to have this class with a round of Hufflepuffs.

"Jake Bariss was it? You are rather early." She noted with how we still had a good twenty minutes left of the lunch period.

However, I just shook my head and said respectfully. "I wanted to find the classroom and make sure I wasn't late, I won't disturb you Professor. I will just sit and read."

Professor McGonagall gave a slight hum before she nodded and said firmly. "Then go ahead and sit. I have summer assignments to grade."

And so I did though instead of taking out the Elemental Harmonization text book, I instead took out a book on alchemy/potion making as that topic was on the more interesting side with the Heaven's Path Library.

Due to how the library helped me pick out several differing recipes for different levels to create a potion to account for a lot of different things.

'Hmm, I haven't run into Hermione Granger yet. I know she is Ravenclaw, but I didn't have her in my first class.' I mused to myself. Though it was certainly possible that with how Cho was on my ass the whole time and making things awkward.

I could have honestly just missed her.

Either way, I just kept reading and filling my mind with information that would be useful at some point. Unlike the canon Harry Potter world, this world most certainly didn't just revolve around Hogwarts.

'I wonder if I can get another chance at that trial sorting orb thing I got to mess with when I was sorted... What if I could-"

I cut the thought off as I realized I was literally thinking about entering a dream state to fuck around with eldritch influences just in the hopes of getting some Bloodborne themed martial arts or something.

The door to the class was pushed open, and I looked over and saw Susan Bones strolling into the classroom with her eye's instantly lasering in on me making me mentally groan before I sent a nod and looked away, back down to my book.

But I was left with... No salvation! As Susan carefully tucked her bag under her side of the long desk and then slipped in to sit beside me at my two-person table!

And after a couple of minutes of Susan carefully getting her stationery ready for the coming classwork, several more classmates of both Hufflepuff and Gryffindor filtered in. And with the two-person tables everyone was sitting at.

A lot of times the house members had to sit with different housemates. So conversation quickly filled the room but quietly so as to not incur the irritation of the slitted-eyed professor.

"So your first day has been rather eventful." Susan said quietly as she leaned on the table in front of us to look at me directly.

I merely hummed as both Cho and Susan were clearly scoping me out to be some kind of house husband/breeding tool for their overly polluted bloodlines. And sure they were hot, but I wasn't interested in being a tool of any kind.

"Not only did you beat Dorea Malfoy, a pureblood scion with the best teachers and someone who is herself likely to reach the Manifestation stage in the next few weeks when she learns how to control her magic."

She took a breath, and I saw her other hand which wasn't propping her up on the table, was on her thigh and drawing circles with a black painted fingernail.

"But you also somehow taught Daphne Greengrass in but an hour to barely touch the Manifestation stage as well."

I simply gave a soft exhale and then said quietly. "That's about right."

I wasn't going to boast about it, but I certainly wasn't going to deny about it.

Susan was silent for a moment, then I stiffened as she sniffed and poked my thigh and said coquettishly. "Am I bugging you too much, Jake? Or do you just not like Hufflepuffs or something?"

I sighed and drew a hand across my face and said flatly while closing my book quietly and putting it away. "No, I have nothing against you or Hufflepuff. I just know you have an agenda for me, and I am not too interested in playing along."

There was a pause and then Susan leaned into my vision and said with a knowing smile. "Hmm? An agenda, no, I do have a goal in mind. But not per se an agenda... And don't guys like a girl who is decisive anyway?"

Finally meeting Susan's gaze, I raised an eyebrow and said quietly. "You are still testing me, seeing if I am actually 'worthy' of you right? Anyway, I prefer a more natural approach."

Thankfully, before she could respond. Professor McGonagall spoke up with her voice silencing all others and everyone sat up straight and looked ahead at her at her voice.

"Class is now in session! Now this is our first lesson and I assume you all read at least the first few pages of this year's book?" Professor McGonagall spoke and asked sternly.

Most people actually nodded but some obviously didn't with Professor McGonagall thankfully not getting on them, but she still noted them visibly before she continued speaking.

"A thousand and a half years ago, this class's topic was known as Transfiguration. One of the western world's most accomplished fields of magic before cultivation became mainstream as the monsters of the world gained more and more power."

She stood up and then she casually waved her hand with her table transforming from a large wooden desk... To a fish tank filled with a dozen fish as well?

"Elemental Harmonization's field is the transformation of all things to another thing in nature. The field is based on studying the various elements and then transforming them into another elemental field and sometimes even more than one field at once."

She then gestured to the fish tank and continued to speak. Listing how she took the wood aligned table and then using her magic, will, imagination, and knowledge of its elemental composition to transform it into materials and a state belonging to the metal, water, and life elements.

All things I understood as I had read the first year's text book even though her multi-elemental stage transfiguration was beyond me for now... At least until I got higher-level yearbooks anyway.
