Broken Hearts. Mended Lives Chapter 27

With the pack of Wendigo's slaughtered, it was time for us to get the hell out of dodge. As my Chakra was barely past the mid way point and I didn't want to run into another pack right now.

"I would suggest taking over one of the holiday cabins we passed by... But for one its going to be a mess of a crime scene, and secondly, it's more than apparent that they can't deal with an attack from a larger pack." Elsa said reasonably while she was carefully wiping the ashes of the dead Wendigo's off her large cold iron knife.

I nodded and said. "Yeah, we might as well head on home, and then I can go to the local Kamar Taj building to collect the bounty." 

However, a soft vibrating hum filled the air and the vampires tilted their heads to the side as Annika muttered curiously. "Helicopters?" 

And Hinata activated her Byuakugan and seeing through the thick primeval forest surrounding us, she spoke and pointed off to what I believe was the north. "Five helicopters are flying in our direction from the north. The border between America and Canada I think." 

I raised an eyebrow before shrugging and saying. "Huh, that's odd... Either way, not our problem, let's get going." 

We began our relaxed march through the night forest filled with the sounds of the forest nightlife as the threat of the Wendigo's had passed. 

But... Not even a couple of minutes later, we realized that the helicopters were more than just going oin ur direction.

They were literally coming directly towards us!

"Ah hell." I muttered as I took a breath seeing the 'FIVE' carrier-type helicopters fly just past us and ropes falling off the helicopters as soldiers or whoever they were dropping down into the clearing ahead of us.

"Hinata, you stay here... I doubt this is going to be pretty." I muttered as I filled my body and eyes with chakra to see better and be able to react to people shooting at me.

But my face darkened as I realized... That they weren't soldiers? No they were wearing cloaks and armor looking like they came from the Crusade or something with holy Abrahamic iconography on them.

And as the soldier's oriented themselves with their night vision goggles lightning up. Elsa hissed and said. "Jake, those are true believers. Their swords and gun's are blessed by their fanatical belief."

But it was just as they got up that I realized what they truly were and I what we were dealing with.

Doing several hand signs without hesitation I shot a powerful lightning bolt through one of the helicopters that were rising up into the air after dropping off the soldiers.

"They are enemies!" I called out as I recognized the silver Vibranium weapons the soldiers were wielding not to mention how each soldier had a giant silver cross embossed into her their tops that went over their exoskeleton armor.

'Fucking really Purifiers? I thought they were active on the East Coast around the rest of the X-Men and shit!?' I thought before I flexed my toes to shoot up a large boulder from the ground as energy beams shot out of their guns.

"Jake, getting close to the Purifer's will weaken us. We should just leave!" Elsa said quickly as she flicked her wrist with a rock being thrown out at high speed and caving in the skull of one of the Purifer's who was coming around the side of the boulder.

I nodded and I picked up Hinata who had froze up at the 'humans' bringing the conflict. And I pushed Hinata into Annika's arms while I said. "Go, I will be in the back. I need to blow up the rest of the helicopters!"

Any response was cut off as a large portion of the rock outcropping I pulled up exploded with dust and rocks flying over our heads. 

With that, we all put the petals to the metal with Ahri sending a wave of hungry fox flames that probably blinded the Purifier's and their night vision goggles as we ran back into the deep forest heading back to our van.

But just as we were running away... I left a shadow clone behind that transformed into a large rock to hide in place as I wanted my clone to snag a Vibranium weapon if it could.

And meanwhile ,as we ran, I blew up another two of the helicopters while we ran towards our van, with the last two helicopters pulling back to probably pick up the troops we long left in the dust with our superhuman speed.

Once we got to our van a bit winded after all the running, I froze as I came up to the van. "Annika, Elsa, Ahri... Can your enhanced senses pick up any scents around our van?" I asked as something was telling me to not get into our van.

The girls paused at the caution in my words and then Ahri made a sniffing noise before freezing and saying quietly. "Yes, three men with different aftershave who all ate the same food or at the same place were around the van." 

I frowned as I realized that it was possible that our van had been tampered with, probably rigged to explode, or otherwise had trackers in it. "Fucking dammit... How did the Purifier's lock onto us?" I wondered exasperated and groaning as I flexed my chakra to kick the van into a roll onto its side and then on it's back.

Low and behold, however... Me kicking the van over onto it's back allowed me to see the large fucking rack of six sticks of dynamite that had a couple of dim LED light's built into the bomb!

"Come on girls, we gotta make our way back home the hard way." I said with a grunt as I took out my burner phone to look at a map before pausing as I realized that this phone might be exactly how we were being tracked.

Or... It was also perfectly possible the X-Men picked us up on Cerebro again and decided to come get us in their jet again but the Purifiers picked up the news somehow and got here before they could.

Once I got our heading in where we needed to go, I crushed the phone in my hands before I chucked it with it making a loud noise as it slammed into the van's doors. "Alright girls! We got a couple of days of hiking to do. Let's get going."
