Grand Hunt Chapter 5
Added 2024-11-26 07:30:08 +0000 UTCAfter killing one of the demon's belonging to the Demon Sage of Destruction, we were just laying low in the old-timey city of Grenat. And having killed one of the demon's Artemis was at work updating my falna.

[The Grand Hunt-] [User will have the essence of the Hunt to be used in hunting great evils or beasts to greatly enhance growth. The hunting of a great evil or beast will also enhance the divinity within the Goddess Artemis or any other god or goddess of the Hunt the user is attached to.]
[Endless Hunt] [The user's very soul resounds with the world and can pick up targets of terrible karma and kill or utterly defeat such beasts and evils. The user will receive the energy awarded from harvesting the karma for his hunt to move to another world or universe at will- 7%.]
"After killing dozen's of monster's. You only completed two percent of the Endless Hunt skill. But killing that single demon girl was enough to give you five percent of the charge to go to a whole different world." Artemis noted quietly as she sealed back up my falna.
I gave a grunt of agreement as I pulled back on my shirt before Artemis spoke again. "I am glad your growth is well beyond what I could have expected. But this world's magic although powerful in it's blunt applications takes a great many years it seems to become remotely proficient in it."
"Yeah, the cannon cast in Fern and Stark. Although powerful in a blunt way. They had to train for more than a decade to get where they are."
I shook my head and said calmly. "I won't be spending a decade learning magic in a fantasy world without proper plumbing or even magitech."
Danmachi itself was a fantasy world without much technology. But the gods there most certainly didn't want to live without plumbing and modern conveniences which was what monster stones were for.
Artemis gave a light hum of thought and after I put on my shirt I saw her back was glowing making me raise an eyebrow at the sight of her burning through her divinity to update her own falna.
And seeing my expression of some concern Artemis gave a small smile and said. "It's fine. I got a good bit of divinity from the Grand Hunt and this update won't hurt me."
I nodded in understanding before I spoke quietly. "Artemis should we go after the Sage of Destruction Aura as well?"
There was a pause before Artemis's voice tightened before she spoke. "Aura... She is surrounded by a legion of undead, and beyond that she herself is very physically strong, stronger than ourselves at this point. And lastly, we cannot close in on her allowing her to take over our bodies."
Artemis was quiet for a moment before she stated coldly. "We are hunter's Jake. Not warriors, if we go after her. It's from a mile away with us working together to launch my divine arrow through her skull."
I remained silent as Artemis closed her eyes and I could see the goddess of the hunt thinking such a play out... Because we had spent a couple of weeks here at Grenat, and Artemis had long since memorized the local maps, the locations of the tallest tree's, and of course the wind patterns that typically came through the local area.
There was a long moment before Artemis opened up her green eyes and she nodded with her saying. "I have a plan. We will need to draw her out to a killing field though... And I will need to be bait."
I raised an eyebrow as Artemis continued. "After killing that other demon, Aura who is supposed to have two more demons serving her. Will be much more on guard. And although I trust that you could kill one of the demon's you can't kill all three."
"I- Yeah I probably cannot." I muttered as I imagined the abilities from the anime I had seen and after a moment Artemis continued.
"Hence, I shall act as bait. No matter how powerful Aura is, her magic will not work on me for I am a goddess... So I will be the bait and should she attempt to bind me."
Artemis drew off and I could already imagine Artemis ordering Aura to kill herself, or even her subordinates, and then herself.
Sure I couldn't deal with Aura's soul-ensnaring technique, but Artemis herself was a goddess,s and the weight and density of her divinity no matter how diminished was greater than any single mortal's magic energy.
With that, we began discussing the more minute details, where would I be, where would Artemis bring Aura and her demons if she could wrangle them together? And lastly and most importantly where would this all take place.
But just as we were getting ready to turn in, a loud rumble rang out and our sharpened senses told us very clearly it wasn't a mere earthquake.
Artemis shot up out of the other bed in the room and she came up to the window and with only the moonlight illuminating her face she spoke softly. "Jake get ready... Someone else is acting as bait for us."
We jumped out of our windows and then we were off towards the main castle that served as the lord of Grenat's home and fortress. And I frowned slightly as I saw powerful beams of magical power shooting through the building at times as it was obvious that some mages and the demons were somehow fighting.
