In the next Episode is a Big Ending, I would like it if you did a Salute. Why? You'll find out.

Brilliant. Next episode is a phenomenal piece of TV.
You've got the Christmas special and the comic relief short The Cavalier Years to do. There's also the film / special for The Millenium - Back & Forth - well worth a look as is The 2008 Documentary as others have mentioned.

There was also a 15min special shot for Comic Relief called 'Blackadder: The Cavalier Years' set during the English Civil War.

They all have Universities it's just Cambridge and Oxford are the most prestigious so would be the equivalent of your Ivy League Colleges, whereas Hull is just a normal run of the mill University.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this but once you have seen it all, it is really well worth watching the 2008 making-of documentary called “Blackadder - The Whole Rotten Saga”. There are a few documentaries about it now, but this particular one is by far my favourite and the input from the cast, writers, director and crew is great. It is on YouTube. Definitely one for after you’ve finished it all though

okay well here we go we’ve got I would say one of the best finale episodes ever put into TV coming up. PS Brian it wasn’t this episode that you need to watch the end credits for it’s the finale

Do you think you would react to bad education? It’s Jack Whitehall who’s in fresh meat as the posh twat but he’s greta in it. Maybe check out a few clips? Either way mate great vids.

I read this too a long time ago. I think they were going to be members of a band and Tony Robinson was to be the shaven headed drummer - bald Rick.

This is a series you shouldn't listen to people when they say wait for the credits. It's obvious when there's something at the end.

The bit about Oxford, Cambridge and Hull is even funnier - Hull is of course the terrible University out of the three of them. But Stephen Fry went to Cambridge, hence his character's aversion to Oxford. Rowan Atkinson went to Oxford, explaining his own discomfort at Melchett's assertion that Oxford is a dump.

There is actually one more episode called black adder back and forth which was made a few years later. Not quite up to par with the rest of it but if you're a completionist it's worth a watch. It was done in more of a film like format.

It's the final episode to watch to the end, it all comes seamlessly anyway so you'll see it. 👍

More uniquely English humour than British I'd have said. The Scots aren't really known for their self-deprecation.

Surely it wasn't set in stone that each series is set in a progressive era than its predecessor? They could have gone back if they wanted too. I remember reading that the Fifth series would have been set in London in the Swinging Sixties before it fell through.

good reaction, KB! This series is by far the best but it is not the end! There are some specials you have not done yet, as I have commented before, I think a Christmas special and a special for the millennium dome in 2000 in London, they did a special episode, that was shown in a small cinema there.
As for the next episode, you may finally get a tear on camera, and I kinda in a nice way hope you do as it warrants it, very poignant end to a legendary series.

Oh… and as to why there was no season five. Three main reasons
1) The cast were in demand with other work
2) It wasn’t obvious how they could write scripts as good as or better than this
3) Each season is an advance in generations of the characters, so there was no new time period to set it in
There is also a 4) related to the second one, but that could spoil the final episode

This series has so many different styles of humour all layered on top of each other, and in some ways each episode has its own predominant comedy style at the centre. The brash and bold (Flasheart), the switch and bait plots (like this episode), perhaps farce with Speckled Jim, with common threads of the ridiculous, the playing off previous series events/characters at times. The humour in episode 6 is probably the most British of the lot - subtle and self deprecating. It definitely has a different aura about it in its pace. I’ll say no more…

Haha, fair point. But I do think it's nice that Darling does get a win in this episode.

No it's the last episode Ep 6you have to watch until the end to get the final shot, ya muppet. From series 2 to 4 one of the writers was Ben Elton, one of the hot-shot comedy writers of the 1980's.

The “Oxford, Cambridge, Hull” bit was a great inside gag, I love the look on Blackadder’s face when Melchett says “Oxfords a complete dump”, always gets me
Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie both went to Cambridge, Rowan Atkinson went to Oxford, big rival universities

I've always loved the way Stephen Fry says "arse". I seem to remember reading that it is his favourite word in the English language.

An interesting point (that I've nicked from Youtube comments). This is the only episode where Captain Darling actually gets one up on Blackadder.
