There is no way that this show just got better than it already was lol. Killer insults.

The Thick Of It S3 Ep1 REACTION!

Comments

FTR, one of the ‘that’s you that is…’ comics is married to the woman who played the focus group woman in S1. She was an SNL member too at one point.

BoSquiddly

I still think 'From bean to cup, you fuck up' whenever i see a coffee machine with that phrase on

Rhi

You have to be an MP to be a Cabinet Minister, the Prime Minister can’t just appoint whatever randoms they like as in the US, so Nicola is already an MP

Kieran B

She was joking about that

Kieran B

banging away like Charles hawtry on a sleeping guardsman, best line, maybe kb should watch some carry on movies

Anthony Brown

Damn, i dont see many other Morley's. Greetings fine sir.

Matthew Morley

So excited for the next episode reaction, the best episode of the whole show in my opinion (and definitely the best Malcom roast…)

Max Morley

KB, FYI Nicola Murray MP (Rebecca Front) is now a Cabinet Minister ( The Prime Minister's team of dept. heads). She is the head of the DOSAC (fictional) government department. The Minister's official title is Secretary of State for Social Affairs And Citizenship (the SAC bit).

That's a bit of a confusing way to put it! Public schools are actually private and paid for by parents who pay fees each term or each year: they are the elite schools and are called 'public schools' because centuries ago they used to be open to ordinary boys from lower incomes. The fact they are still called public schools is hilarious and very British in its confusion! Actual public schools, which are paid for by taxpayers and which most British kids attend, are never called public schools: they are called state schools.

Ash X

FYI Public and private schools in UK operate differently, public ins a school state run be the GOV. Private school is paid for by parents

Indeed. A subsection of MPs from the largest (and therefore ruling) party in Parliament are selected by the head of the party (i.e. the prime minister) to be ministers, who run Government departments. So not all MPs from the the ruling party actually form part of the Government (they're known as "backbenchers", as ministers typically sit on the front benches in the House of Commons). Nicola has just become a minister (and therefore part of the Government), with the story being that her predecessor Hugh has been demoted to the backbenches by the new prime minister (Tom) as part of his cabinet reshuffle.

Roy Kinnear was great as the awkward entertainment manager in the film Juggernaut(British title). Doing a great version of Roll out the Barrel on a piano. Rory is a better actor than his dad but not as funny.

Yaapsdad

Just a warning that most of the actors are playing different parts.

FRER Productions

Yes the actor is Rory Kinnear, his dad Roy Kinnear was in the original Wonka movie from the 70's and sadly died due to an accident whilst filming 'The Return of the Musketeers', in Spain. I'll always remember his from the sitcom 'George & Mildred'.

KB you need to react to this show Nighty Night - Rebecca Front is amazing in it, plus you've got Ruth Jones and Julia Davies from Gavin & Stacey (Nessa and Dawn) and it is one of the darkest comedies ever screened on British TV.

Bikeaholic

Yeah, it's kind of an unusual mix of the same actors playing the same characters and the same actors playing different characters. Plus Tony Soprano!

Will

Shut the fuck up you twat" - you said that without thinking about it....your coming on so well .🥰

Craig McCulloch

There's nothing wrong with Dover by the way 😊

Owen Prosser

Boomer, love that jumper. I suspect a queen involvement? 🤪 ✌️❤️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇬🇧🏳️‍🌈 xxx

“In The Loop” it’s non-canon but features much of the cast playing similar but different characters, except Malcolm and Jamie are still there. Also half the cast are American, so it’s also a good gateway into TTOI’s US adaptation, Veep. In The Loop was released between the specials and S3.

Mark Fraser

There is! Called 'In the loop' Not really related to the show... but still Malcom Tucker and some of the same actors. Oh and it has American politics in it too

Corey Williams

There’s a movie? Uhhh the answer is make sure to kill me if I don’t watch that.

Brian Moran

You plan to watch the movie after the show?

Corey Williams

Rebecca Front and Peter Capaldi have some of the greatest on screen chemistry I’ve ever seen. Seeing them go to war is electric.

Spoingus

Whether or not Chris Langham was a diddler, it turned out in the show’s favour to replace Hugh with Nicola. His performance is very low energy, defeated and pathetic (tbf it’s written to be and he’s good) and that was great for the first few episodes but I think the show shined more and found most of its popularity after that character was gone. Nicola is still a loser, but she brings much more energy than Hugh and there’s a sense she can fight back against Malcolm (a bit).

Mark Fraser

great to see you cracking on with season 3. the word Omnishambles was added to the dictionary from this show, I always thought that fact was cool

TC Elba

Love the reaction the show top tier it's great to re watch it with you're reactions. Ps love the alien poster in the background I have a alternative movie poster print of the same picture I've never put up, if you want it I'd happily send it over.

Daniel Monney

Many of the insults in this show have bled into actual politics. George Osbourne's budget was called an omnishambles in parliament.

Neal Murdoch

Rebecca Front as "Nicola Murray" is such a great addition to the show. You instantly know that this job is going to ruin her life. Rebecca plays this character so well. Joyous reaction from you as always - and you're going to absolutely love this going forward.

Phil Robinson

She's already an MP. She's been appointed as a Minister in charge of a government department, similar to a Secretary in charge of a US Government department.

Paul Casey

Rebecca Front, also in Nighty Night.

emu cat

The film “In the Loop” is the best

Robbie

Great episode. Nicola is fantastic. One of the things I notice about Malcolm is that he's not completely savvy; most people wouldn't give a damn that she had a nice chair, or that her daughter went to a posh school. The newspapers would make a big deal of it though, and that's what worries him, not the man on the street. So half of me wonders if he is just being spiteful because he hates politicians for how slimy they tend to be.

ALW

It absolutely does get better!!! You’ll love it.

Neale Crofts

Great to see this up here :) You're gonna love Season 3!
