Great reaction, thanks guys! Yes, people in the UK get confused about "next Tuesday" as well. The way I think about it is that it is short for "next week's Tuesday" or "a week next Tuesday", indicating that it is a Tuesday not in the week we're in, but in the following week. But yes it has caused some confusion among me and my family.

I always remember my Mum having the menopause because it was when I left home, I was 16 and was completely confused and unsympathetic as to why my Mum was acting like a deranged lunatic, she was 48, I've always felt guilty in hindsight about not being there for her at the time and not understanding what she was going through.
