“You don’t mean that,” Terra said, shaking her head. “Please don’t say things that you don’t mean, Edgar. Not to me.”
“And why would I not mean what I just said, Terra?" Edgar's voice was soft as he looked at her. Usually, he would shoot a playful smile her way in a moment like this, but his face was oddly serious this time, and it made her squirm.
“You just suggested it because you think it’s the right thing to do,” she said. “I’m sure you think this is the best solution on how you can give us a permanent place here without upsetting your people. But you’ve already done so much for me, and for the kids. I couldn’t possibly ask you to make such a sacrifice just to give us a place here.”
“Is that what you believe, Terra?” Edgar did smile now, but the expression carried a sincerity she was not used to. “I invited you and the children from Mobliz to make your homes here in Figaro because we have the room and the resources, and because it was the right thing to do.”
He stepped closer to her, and his hand slowly reached toward her, giving her time to stop it if she so chose. Instead, she let him put his hand on her shoulder. He might be a flirt, but he was her friend, and she trusted him with her life. His hand on her shoulder did not feel like a friendly gesture, though. It didn’t seem like an attempt at flirting, either, at least if what she’d seen from him in the past was his idea of flirting. He didn’t try to flash her a charming smile or hit her with a pick-up line about how she was so beautiful he'd felt his heart stop for a moment. Edgar just looked into her eyes with a look she'd never seen before, at least until recently. She'd noticed the way he looked at her changing recently, and she hadn't known what to make of it or of how it made her stomach do flips. But as he placed his hand on her shoulder and gave her that look now, her stomach did those strange flips again, and her mouth felt drier than it had any right to.
“I asked to court you because I wish to be with you, Terra,” Edgar said. “This isn’t me trying to flirt with you or seduce you.” He chuckled slightly. “For the first time in my life, trotting out some clever line feels ill-fitting. I do not want you to think that I am playing games with you, Terra. I have feelings for you—feelings like none I’ve ever had for anyone before. I’m not asking you to agree to a betrothal at once, and I also want to assure you that you and the orphans from Mobliz staying here is not contingent on how you answer. You and they will always have a place here if you wish to be here." Terra nodded silently. She believed him and trusted that he would not renege on his promises if she refused his offer.
“I simply wanted to be honest with you about my feelings, and ask if you would allow me to court you so we can see if we work together as more than merely friends and allies,” Edgar said. “But the choice is yours, and—”
“Okay,” Terra said, interrupting him. Edgar’s mouth froze, and his eyes widened after her interruption. “I can’t promise anything. I’ve never been in love before.” She hadn’t known if she would ever love or be loved by anything until she wound up in the ruins of Mobliz after the Cataclysm. She loved those orphaned kids like they were her own, and that had been enough for her. But maybe she could have a different type of love, too.”
“To be frank, neither have I,” Edgar said. “Maybe we’ll learn together?”
“Maybe we will,” Terra said, glancing at the hand on her shoulder. She still didn’t know what to make of the feeling in her belly when Edgar looked at her like this, but she didn’t hate the feeling. She would just have to see where it led.
--
“Are you ready?” Edgar asked.
“I’ve been ready,” Terra whispered, staring up at him and spreading her legs wider. He’d just used his mouth to pleasure her until she felt boneless, and the bliss her now-husband’s mouth brought her had eliminated any nervousness she’d still been feeling about her first time. She felt only desire and anticipation as he moved into position over top of her and guided his erect phallus between her legs. Edgar looked down into her eyes, and she nodded up at him, encouraging him to penetrate her. He held eye contact as he pushed into her for the first time.
“Okay?” he asked, moving carefully.
“Okay,” she assured him. “I feel good, honestly. Strange, but good.” She brought her hands to his cheeks and stroked them with her fingertips. “Please keep moving. I want you.”
He smiled at her, kissed her, and kept moving, sliding his phallus deeper into her virgin sex. They'd remained chaste through their courtship, even if Terra would have been willing to make love with him before their wedding night. Edgar insisted on waiting, though, and she couldn't deny that her wedding night felt even more special as she and the man she loved rocked together for the first time.
Terra knew what that feeling in her belly had been now. She hadn’t known enough to recognize it when it was happening, but at the same time he’d developed feelings for her, she had been falling in love with Edgar, too. She loved him, and she wanted to spend her life with him. Learning how to be in love, and even learning how to be a queen, didn’t scare her as it once had. She knew that everything was going to be fine as long as she had him by her side, or on top of her in this case.
Sex felt good; better than she’d thought it would, even. She felt full, but it felt like he had always been meant to be with her like this, filling her and pushing deeper into her. Even as he sped up and thrust his hips fast enough to make their bed creak beneath them, Terra felt perfectly comfortable. She could feel their bodies slapping together, and his hands were on her breasts, fondling them and rubbing her nipples. But then his right hand slid down her body, and a finger pressed against her clitoris, rubbing along it in circles just as it had while he was using his mouth on her. Terra gasped, squeezed his sides with her bare legs, and whimpered as her pleasure reached those same wondrous heights it had minutes earlier when his head was between her legs.
She squeezed him tighter with her arms and her legs when she heard him grunt and felt him tense atop her. They’d never done this before, but she still knew enough to realize what was happening. He was shooting his seed inside of her for the first time, and the realization made Terra’s body twitch and brought another moan out of her.
She already had the love of the Mobliz kids, a husband she'd fallen in love with, and a kingdom she was expected to help rule, but it might not be long until she learned what it felt like to love a child of her own. That was yet another form of love she was unfamiliar with, but she couldn’t wait to experience it for herself.
