Hello Adventurers! December has been a crazy month, so I’m a little behind on my map releases. Apologies! I used a snowy theme for this map to get into some kind of festive spirit. Camp Frostbone is a group of tents made from bones and animal hides sheltering under a giant fossilised skeleton of a long-dead monster. This should be perfect for an encounter with some green humanoids, goblins, orcs and the like, or some isolated tribe that mines/gathers the bones in this location for whatever purpose you’d like.
I’ll work on the Narrow Path after the Christmas break with the plan to release it in early January, and then I’ll work on the Ancient Artifice.
The Narrow Path
I want to create a crack or cavern with a narrow rock walkway running across or through it. Either side of the path drops away into the depths (I’ll also draw in the bottom). On either wall, openings of various sizes lead into darkness. Something terrible lives in those holes, but this is the only path.
Ancient Artifice (Arena Gauntlet)
I want to create an arena-style map based on the idea of some giant half-buried artefact. The elements that stick out of the ground make up an arena with different parts of the device doing various things. Think of it as a gauntlet with distinct phases. It may have a kind of South American vibe to it. At least, that's my initial thought.
With the holiday season here, I want to let you know how much you’ve changed my life for the better and how much I appreciate it. Thank you all, you beautiful people. I wish you the very best new year and look forward to providing you with new maps and fun ways to torture, *cough* I mean, to engage with your players in the future ;)
With all that mushy stuff out of the way, let’s get out of the cold and shelter in one of these tents. Once the owners return, we’ll explain everything to them. Can someone move that box of skulls out of the way? That's right, climb under these human skin-shaped leather blankets and try to keep warm!

At the base of frozen cliffs huddles a small ramshackle camp, little more than a few tents, half buried by the drifting snow. The materials used to make the tents are unusual. They consist mainly of crudely tanned leather, animal hides and giant animal bones, all tied together with rough, sinewy cords. Smoke drifts from inside many of the tents, along with the aroma of cooking meat. Snow covers the ground around the camp, and patches of hard-packed snow and mud indicate the paths the residents make between structures. Looming over the camp are the giant bones of an ancient creature protruding from the cliff walls. What looks like a spinal column and ribs are partially exposed. Smaller bones have been collected into piles, some processed to be used as building materials, while others are tied together for storage and transport.
30x30 Grid Map
In an environment lacking trees, or at least long straight trees, people use what they can to make their shelters. In this case, it's most likely bones from long-dead giant monsters.
The tribe probably doesn’t know what type of monsters the bones come from. They may have legends/myths explaining their origins. Or maybe they are like the Mammoth hunters of pre-history and hunt monsters to survive.
These bones could come from land or sea creatures. Whale or sea serpent bones would suit coastal tribes, while Mammoth or more fantastical large monsters could be used for land-based origins.
The inhabitants of such a village would be highly resourceful. They would know the environment well, making fantastic guides and trackers. They are likely renowned and skilled warriors if they hunt the monsters they use to make their homes.
The inhabitants of this camp use bone weapons. They would be simple but heavy and very deadly.
In the Belly of the Beast: I love the idea that these are the fossilised remains of some giant sea/land monster. Its belly is full of smaller remains. These are highly sought after for their magical properties. This tribe mines the ‘Belly of the Beast’ for fossilised treasure!
The Chieftains Challenge: Prove your worth to the Chieftain before he will help you on your quest. Fight one-on-one with his best warrior or team combat with some traditional rules.
Tigers by Night: Sabercats stalk the tribe's camp at night. With the warriors away on the hunt, the camp inhabitants ask for your help to fend off the beasts.
Day/Night for all map variants.
A Snow variant without the camp but with the bones.
A more general Snow map without the camp and bones.
A set of three desert variants with the same variants as the snow maps.
And a set of two Forest maps with and without the camp.
