Yes, Ace is one of my favorite characters in One Piece. One of them, cos there are too many to just have one favorite character in this show. But Ace for sure has a special spot in my heart. He's incredible, and I love all the layers of his character. So happy to see you being so mesmerized by him!

Most of Ep. 93 was anime exclusive as Chopper does not get abducted nor does Luffy encounter the Dance Powder (that lore comes much later). The narrated recap is also going to become more prevalent going forward. The Alabasta arc has a lot of "filler" episodes which makes it feel a little drawn out, but regardless it's one of my favorites. I love how well-mannered Ace is, especially where he apologizes to that random family for "disturbing their meal" aka plowing holes through their walls. The only time we really see Luffy showing his "manners" is when he tries to find the right words to express his condolences in front of Bellmaire's grave.

Take these episodes for example, you learn Luffy has a brother. you learn more about Smoker's devil fruit through his interaction with Ace, you learn a bit about the World Government and about the Whitebeard pirates. None of it is clear, all of it invites theories. Oda really is a master at expanding his world.

Also to note, the one piece world is not static and Oda does a great job of moving the characters not in the arc around. Things will happen regardless of the Strawhats. We might be in an arc that is about Vivi and her country but that doesn't mean we can't get more world building for elsewhere.

Stretching out things gets more and more comman, as the anime started to catch up to the manga more and more in the future episodes. As a thumb of rule, if it feels that characters do (dumb) stuff without any progress it is likly filler. Someone mentioned that according to measurements that Oda gave, Alabasta should be the size of our worlds Australia. Gives an impression of the worlds size. Also my inner child cannot miss the joke: "I have questions about the "D"" .... Thats what she said.... "Ace is so cool"... me thinking well isn't i more like "Ace is so hot"? ok enough lol
