Thank you all tremendously for supporting my work this past month and WELCOME to the new ones 💕 Let me give you a little recap of the past month! 📊

I always say this because I'm paranoid: If you received a zine that was damaged or with any printing errors PLEASE let me know so we can get you a replacement! 

It’s really wonderful seeing you lovely folks sharing pictures of the zines in their new homes😭 Thank you for supporting what I do to such an extreme degree, it's overwhelming in the best way💖

This week was crazy and Kitt🐰 and I need to take a breather to get caught up.

We wanted to have a new batch of stickers but they got mangled in delivery and over half of them didn't even arrive 🥲so we'll do a sticker update later in the month with a new Peach sticker

The Peach stickers didn't make it. :( Somewhere there's a Fedex truck just filled with Peaches, which is kind of a happy thought.

In retrospect the theme of September was this lesson:

The longer I let myself work on something, the more I change as an artist in relation to it and it starts to get more complicated as a result. Its limitations and potentials become clearer, but what I want out of it changes also.

I encountered this without exception on every project this month. The garden witch animation, Faun x Swordsman comic, and especially with the only miss for the month:

⏹️Orc and the Tower: CYOA Pt 21 Update (It's currently in progress and I'll have an update within the week!)



The CYOA started originally as little throwaway interim project, but two years later, I find myself attached to the characters and improvised story and now I’m trying to give them purpose and make your audience participation choices more interesting from an interactive narrative and it's not throw-away at all!

✅Faun x Swordsman 17-20 pages are moving along well, especially while I’m working on the horny ones. :) Also lots of smooching in these pages 😘





But again, what started as short one-shot with flirty, flippant dialog about lofty subjects like love, fate, hubris have started to look different the longer I work on them.



Now I’m wondering if I can pull something more meaningful out of the story and as a result I keep rewriting the next sequence.

✅Garden Witch Animation 2 WIP, which I’m working on with Iggy🐸, is a short animation project that is very much threatening to be a long one. 😅 I'm doing my best to keep it under control.

Iggy created a stage for our lil witch to perform!

Early in the month I was posting about it through discussions of character design, especially in my sketchbook pages for Department Access Tier patrons.

It became clear I was kinda stalling out with it so I worked on making it simple again by giving myself a more stylized, cartoony character to animate.



I really did have a lot of trouble with her profile



I’m learning some things about designing characters for my own animation pipeline, like what limitations I need to be able to make progress in a project like this without second-guessing every choice.

Drawing Daisies and Peaches all year has made me acutely aware of how smart a good cartoon design is. To try to figure out what that means for me, I have been indulging in drawing some bosomy cartoons throughout the month as well.



I've been thinking a lot about pixie cuts this month I guess?



It’s such an obvious thing but it’s not until I try to do something simple and realize how hard it is to be economical.

Because I can feel that this short animation desperately wants to be something longer, I’m going to make a compromise with it by making a “short” version and let myself play with an extended cut that I can keep adding things to just to see how it feels.

She's doing some sick Tech Deck tricks juuuuust out of frame.



It might be hard for me, but I think I need to start setting project goals in terms of what they need to achieve in order to be “done” because it's all too easy for me to just keep adding frames, pages, etc. It's not that I can't make short projects, it's just that I need to have real hard limitations about what constitutes "finished."

I collected a bunch of Daisy animation tests I've doodled and made a little post for Archive Access Patrons here.



For now I'm just going to keep my tests and early motion stuff at that tier, but I'll keep sharing more complete animation works with all patrons!💖

Some of these animations are a little harder to tease without animating censor bars 😅They're mostly just cute, limited frame tests.

October Goals:

⏹️ Faun x Swordsman 21-24 - Yep, blowing past the original intended length for this.😅

⏹️ Reading Bench Animation Complete? - I want to see if I can take the current loop-ish state and extend it into a sequence by inserting more things around it. What I love about comics is trying to build anticipation in pleasure and tension and I want to try to put that into this animation by adding some more snippets.
