August Report 🌼

Erm.

I definitely missed some goals but we also got some things done in August that weren't on the list:

• Garden Witch Animation

• Garden Witch minicomic

• Daisy x Peach minicomic

• Trying to improve navigation of stuff on patreon and making more comics free to read!😵‍💫

• More Daisies than I had ever intended to draw

While I made no progress on the ⏹️CYOA Pt 20 or the ⏹️Faun x Swordsman, I did end up making 8 pages of comics this month… but I just did them for the Garden Witch animation and the ✅Daisy Zine instead.😅

I get the most mental resistance(procrastination) on projects just as they enter the perilous nearly-complete stage because it’s then that you have to look at all the loose decisions you’ve made and try to figure out how to tie them up into a satisfying conclusion. 

⏹️CYOA Pt 20 and ⏹️Faun x Swordsman13-16 are in that stage right now so I’m going to be setting aside a big chunk of time this week to figure those out so it doesn’t stagnate again this month.

✅Daisy Zine Finished! 

I’m really pleased with how this turned out! It’s 8 pages longer than I’d planned, including the minicomic and some of the late additions to the spreads.

Overall it's more polished than the Peaches Zine, which is not to say it's better, it's just more art book and less scrappy. It scratches a different itch.

I'm happy I could fit in some purely fashiony pinup thing too 🧡

Everything is ready, I just have to spend some time printing, binding and trimming them all this week for the physical release on the 14th! Also we're going to have a more sfw sticker this time 😘

✅Weekly updates

Most of the sketchbook stuff I shared this month was just prelimary works or WIP for the Daisies Zine of chaotic page layouts.

I want to do a better job of sharing WIPs with Department Access📝 because I didn’t do that much while I was in the middle of things with the Daisies Zine, but I didn't share as much Work-In-Progress things as usual because I was doing less free sketching this month and more just chipping away at Daisy spreads.

My biggest process post was more of a retrospective look at the comic process rather than a current WIP post, so it was more reflecting on the process as a whole and some things I learned.

I’d be curious to know: is it more satisfying to watch the struggle as it’s happening or to see it explained after it’s been resolved?

Also, thank you for leaving nice comments on the process posts, it helps me know what’s interesting and what’s extraneous as well as how to write more clearly!❤️

📰 Other News:

The payment processor-led censorship fiasco on itch.io/steam led me to also offer the Daisies Zine here, as a purchasable posts in the Daisies Zine Collection. And it’s just a bonus perk for all of you who are already here and made it possible 💖Thank you!

Libby & Holly Ch1 is now free on itchio because that’s the only way for it to be discoverable through the storefront.

Age Verification laws in both the US and EU is making having my NSFW portfolio website kind of a liability more than an asset. I’ve hidden most of the content until I can figure out how to just block whole regions that are problems, so it's basically just a links page now.

The comics that used to be free on my website (basically Space Express) and now Libby Ch. 1 are in this Free Comics Collection for all patreon members!

You can also find this through the updated Comics Library post, which now makes it easier to find both the current in-progress comic and the monthly free comic for Department Access Tier.

This month’s story is Fitting for a Lady, which I think should make for  pleasant September reading if you haven’t already seen it!😌🍵🍃

⏹️Weekly updates - I’m going to try for some kinda Weekend/Mid-week updates this time like Wed-Sunday
⏹️Daisy Zine Physical Launch Sept. 14 - we’ll also have a new Daisy sticker to go with it!⏹️Garden Witch Animation 2 Progress - While I'm hesitant to add to the list, I do want to at least include it as a thing in progress!

Even though there were some misses in August, I am glad I took the extra time on the Daisies Zine to make it a little more special. I'm excited to be able to refocus a bit more now that this launch is out of the way!
