Fans were delighted to see the character return, however some criticized the comic series depiction of The Captain, often ridiculing its over use of unfitting profane language.
Comic writer Rob Cockwell stated in an interview at Titscon:
we decided to give the character more of an edge this time around readers these days crave hard violence, incest and swearing, we thought itd be more appropriate to reach that extra few who thought the character needed more umph.
