Clumsyhands - Zhurzh in the How to Train Your Dragon universe.

I take a break from drawing dragons by… drawing dragons. Creating sketches for the soul helps me recharge after long workdays. I dare to compare it to a head chef who comes home and enjoys simple dumplings with sour cream.

Since the age of 9, I’ve had a hyperfixation on the How to Train Your Dragon universe. Recently, I came across the page of a girl who has built a fan shrine dedicated to the franchise. I was deeply impressed by how boldly she expresses her love for this childhood movie, even as an adult, just like me. Her bravery inspired me, and so I, too, allowed myself to embrace this love:

Having been in love with How to Train Your Dragon for nearly 15 years, I had never dared to draw not just anyone, but MYSELF within this universe - unlocking the gates to my imagination and personal dreams!

What if, somewhere out there, I could be a dragon trainer, like Hiccup? And if I had my own dragon, what would it be? I thought it might be a Scauldron or a Crimson Goregutter - I really like them. But being realistic, it would probably be a Deadly Nadder or a Hideous Zippleback…

The color of the outfit and the dragon’s design weren’t easy to decide on either. I was leaning toward a blue palette, but after looking at my photos, I realized I tend to wear shades of red, dark green, and orange more often.

Why Clumsyhands? In the world of How to Train Your Dragon, every Viking has a unique name. Children are either named after Great Warriors, Gods, or given strange, unattractive names believed to ward off trolls. Maybe I’m a bit too self-critical, but I thought it would be funny to give myself an ironic name, since, in reality, I don’t think I draw badly at all! :D

A bit more about the process. As always, the first sketch turns out more emotional and dynamic, but it doesn’t really look much like me. A rounder face and chubby cheeks - that’s more my style, haha.

So yeah, my whole life revolves around dragons, and my soul has long been sold to them.

But I have no regrets!
