Hello !

As a total noob, I had no expectations before watching this episode but also no knowledge. And I can tell you that this first episode is a really good introduction to this universe ! The first scene to present Valya in fact talked also about the context of the show, like the scenes after the time jump described well how this world functions, with the different houses, the truthsayers etc. I missed references and details that hardcore fans appreciated, but I think with time they're gonna confirm, insist on some of them, to make me get them.

Good introduction to this universe, and good presentation of all of the characters and main stories. With Valya being the central character of everything, the one who would see the "burning truth", who had to straighten the sisterhood and is gonna have to lead them during this period of trouble. With Nez who is clearly an ambitious princess and the consequences of her failed engagement, with her family members and what is gonna happen because of it. With Desmond Hart who is the mysterious guy with unexplained intentions, good or bad let's discover it.

This episode was really good, but it doesn't make the show amazing… yet. This first episode needed to introduce a lot of stuff, so it explains it was pretty scholar for how it was written/filmed. But we can expect more from it, better musics, real composition in the pictures etc.
