Progress Report 3/5

Howdy all! Sorry for the relative quietness in the last two weeks or so, I've been working on a lot of changes to things that I can't really share! I've also been quite busy with school (and MH Wilds of course!) so I have been working a bit less.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The next WIP build will be out tonight or tomorrow. This will include the poppeteer class (voodoo class), and a bunch of other goodies.

ALSO NOTE: For the Feb '25 suggestion box, I have chosen the winners and will reveal them sometime in the next few days. These have taken me a bit longer since I've been focused on other stuff.

Now for the actual progress report!

Narrative

I've been working on overhauling the narrative planned for the Mangwood region quests, as I was unhappy with the old version of the story and its antagonist. I've also been doing a lot of world building for different cultures and sections of the map. These changes will quickly start to bear fruit in 1.2.

It's worth noting that I have also scrapped the biome based region system in favor of a more organically connected world. This is because the biome thematic was a bit too limiting on what sort of areas I could include within each region, however the questlines will still be divided into regions of the world, that are more diverse and interconnected. You can think of it more as regional conflicts rather than geographical regions if that makes sense!

World Map/Layout

To avoid limitations on where I could organically structure the in-game world, I've redone the world map of biomes to be more organic. I don't want to show this yet, as it would spoil a lot of future content plans, hence my relative quietness.

I've written out a lot of the different species inhabiting these biomes, as well as landmarks and features. You'll spread out and explore these areas starting in 1.2, as the map for 1.1.0 is finalized.

Poppeteer

The poppeteer class has undergone a lot of changes since the initial reveal in devlog #9. The class is more focused on stacking different unique debuffs to foes, and gains bonuses based on the amount of debuffs afflicted to foes.

The in-game guide will fully cover the class as it is now in the next WIP mentioned above, but you can expect the core features of poppeteering your friends and foes to stay the same! The changes were mostly to witchery stacks, as the original uses were a bit shite.

TLDR: Witchery stack use change, class reoriented to be more offensive in its use of debuffs rather than stat modification.
