WE MADE IT

HEY EVERYONE! Sorry for the long, loooong delay. It's been an incredibly hectic couple of weeks for us! Not gonna lie, it got pretty hairy for us a few times, even right from the beginning. As closing day came for the house sell, we packed our things and got a hotel... only for the closing day to get delayed at the last minute. And then delayed again. And then delayed again. We got pretty fucking worried and ended up basically breaking down worrying that this whole thing was going to fall apart right before the finish line, and we'd have to unpack our moving truck (which we weren't sure how to return since it would need to go to Portland), cancel our new apartment lease, and resolve to being stuck in that house forever. I legit stayed up all night in that hotel room worried that I may have ruined our lives. It got pretty dark.

But then it happened. The house sale happened. We got our check, immediately cashed it, and we hit the road that very same day! 2700 miles, 4 days of driving. We drove across deserts, through farms, through rain, through mountains. 10 hours of driving each day, coordinating over walkie-talkies as Leslie and the cats drove the car while I drove the moving truck. We had some really close-calls with psychotic truck drivers and steep mountain drop-offs. The cats broke through two of their kennels mid-trip. But we made it. We fucking made it, and right before the moving truck-return deadline.

We've been here for three days now, and mostly have just been trying to settle in. We unfortunately suffered a couple damages: My phone broke the moment we got here (and I'm very thankful it didn't break DURING the trip) and my keyboard also needed to be replaced. We also just had to abandon a lot of furniture since it wouldn't fit in our truck, so a lot of these last few days has just been assembling new ikea furniture. But we've set up new desks and our computers and drawing tablet work just fine. We are officially BACK IN BUSINESS, BABY.

Still got a couple more things we gotta set-up, but we're back on our normal comic schedule! Expect a new comic page on Sunday, and some bonus art in another post coming up! I'm sure you're all wondering what our thoughts on Portland are and I'll have plenty to tell you later, but let me assure you now that we fucking love it here. Holy shit. We are surrounded by wonderful people in an amazing and vibrant community. It's also just such a huge mental relief not to be in that house anymore, no longer surrounded by painful memories and constantly checking over our shoulders any time we were out in that very small town filled with people we never wanted to see again. We're done with that now. It's a new chapter in our lives, and we're going to fucking rock this shit so hard. We've never been more motivated to make comics no matter what's going on in the world.
