I just saw this and thought it was worth sharing. In the past, I used Moi3D to do this type of solids modeling. There are several advantages to this type of model, in particular if you do any 3D printing you're always assured of having a manifold object. Also, using booleans and fillets is typically much easier and more exact.
The biggest issue with these types of modelers is when you want to export it to a program like blender, the masked version and topology is always not optimal. Still, you can render it nicely inside of Blender.
