EARLY ACCESS: Maximum Overdrive (1986) | Movie Reaction | First Time Watching

WE MADE YOU!!! A Stephen King directed chaser for Mrs. Movies after the traumatizing Pet Sematary, the 80s B-Movie Classic Maximum Overdrive (1986). Here's her reaction to her first time watching.

Comments

Stephen King on cocaine is a scarier thought than any of his novels.

Funnily enough, Who Made Who WAS written specifically for this movie. The album it was on serves as a soundtrack for the movie as well with new songs and old hits combined. This was also the final King movie made by a special production company set up by Martha De Laurentiis to produce Stephen King content in North Carolina. The other films they produced were Cats Eye, Firestarter and Silver Bullet. All worthy watches.

Sweet! One of my favorite B movies! Some of the kills in this movie are pretty terrifying, but the schlock makes it just fun to watch. I use to watch this movie as a double feature with Night of the Comet since both movies involve a comet haha.

Yeah, The War at Home was good, strong performances. I never saw The Way but heard it was good. Loaded Weapon 1 with Samuel L. Jackson was a decent slapstick parody of Lethal Weapon. It's crazy that he's been in several movies but the one most people know him for is The Mighty Ducks.

Lmao, reminds me of a song by Tom Green..."Don't Mess with a Man (After He Takes a Big Poo Poo)".

Funny you mention "telephone mishap" because Stephen King wrote a book called Cell. Movie of the same name starred John Cusack and Samuel L. Jackson.

It's bad but I wouldn't say it's horrendously bad. Going Overboard (1989) is horrendously bad. When you've seen as many movies I have, some movies that are considered "bad" are actually ok when compared to some other movies. Some people think Road House is a bad movie and I'm kind of surprised on that.

Some other great Emilio flicks: The Way, The War at Home, The Public.

One of those gulity pleasure movies. Stephen King admitted he was under the influence of cocaine often during the production of the film, and that's not surprising. The lead actress, Laura Harrington, wasn't bad and probably should have had a better career than she did. She's best known for her role in What's Eating Gilbert Grape. A better and entertaining Emilio Estevez movie is Judgment Night (1993).

I love this movie so much. It's so, so, so horrendously bad. But I love it anyway. The movie that Stephen King doesn't remember even making because he was so coked out. The "How Did This Get Made" episode for this movie is fantastic. Though I'm still irked even all these years later no one commented on the fact Giancarlo Esposito is in the movie. Also, holy shit, I forgot Burrell from The Wire is in this movie!

I guess...

B-Movie Classic!

Classic? I mean, you kinda have to watch it because King directed it, but... classic?
