Usually, we write the chapter before starting the CGs, and then we get help from you or some American friends who proofread it so we can adjust the story. Since our writer’s mother tongue is Spanish, sometimes ideas get lost in translation—but as a team, we’re working hard to improve that too.
Here’s the first draft of Jafar’s return and his first encounter with Jasmine:
Chapter 3: Jafar’s Return
(The throne room of Agrabah. Jafar stands beside the throne. Jasmine is behind two guards, a faint crimson energy cage shimmering around her.)
Jafar:
Princess, I’m delighted to look upon your beautiful visage again after these past few weeks. As you know, my expedition to the desert was an outstanding success.
Jasmine:
As if I care! Release me from this cage right now, wizard. No one gave you the power to do this to me.
Jafar: (opening one eye wide in mock surprise)
No one? What about your late father? As you well know, he requested that I serve as regent until the princess provides an heir.
Jafar: (smug)
I have to protect our people. You cannot wander about with that royal womb unprotected. The heir must be bred by someone from an important family.
Jasmine:
I would never lie with you—or any other man you choose. I am enough. The throne is my rightful position as queen.Jafar:
You will never lie with a man? Interesting…
Then what’s the purpose of your late-night escapades? I’d hate to suspect you of planning treason.
Jasmine: (shocked)
How… how do you know about that? I’ve been locked in the dungeons this whole time!
