How did you think he was a paedo lmao? I know Americans are stereotyped for being slow but what

Ducactus

For some reason the British find it hilarious when children pick on adults or older children, It's the same in The Inbetweeners.

Peep Show! Yes! Subscribed!

Jonathan Pettitt

The best thing about this that isn’t obvious from the video is that this was filmed weeks/months before the studio filming so Joe will have been feeling pretty smug and looking forward to this being shown

Calvin

She hasn't: check out here posts on the Community chat. She is having problems with copyright on YouTube and has limited room on her hard-drive for new recordings.

Eddy

Have you stopped reacting to the inbetweeners? I really enjoyed those reactions and I miss these!

William Fisher

It is possible to be more cringey than the Inbetweeners. The UK office

The final scene in Blackadder (season 4) is heartbreaking.

I've sent you an invitation to my private Plex server to your business email. All episodes of IT Crowd and other stuff you can get on there (stream or download)

Olivia Colman (Mark's work-love interest on the bus) was in Midsummer Murders, I believe, at least briefly. She's since hit it fairly big in Hollywood though (having started out on the Mitchell & Webb sketch show, which is well worth reacting to in parts: try the Brain Surgeon sketch - https://youtu.be/THNPmhBl-8I?si=oBOO0No2WpOAl4ye - or the various conspiracy ones - https://youtu.be/P6MOnehCOUw?si=xRBcVRYsGN4UKn-K - all only about 2 mins each, so people tend to stack a few together). My favourite Olivia Colman film is probably "The Favourite" with Emma Stone and Rachel Weisz.

Eddy

So excited you're watching Peep Show. One of my favourite shows of all time. Keep it up. And no, Mark is not a pedo.

DannyJammy

Klaire, loving your uncomfortable reaction to this (we all felt this way when we first started watching Peep Show) but please stick with this, as each season just gets better and better and more and more cringy. Apart from the regulars you see in this episode (Mark, Jeremy, Sophie, Toni and Super Hans) new characters get introduced that just add to the cringe factor and hilarity. Klaire, please don’t second guess yourself - you’re one of the very best US Patreon reactors who doesn’t do a whole lot of talking over the episode or stops it 10,000 times (which can get really annoying) so please don’t change. You’re doing a great job! Also, us Brits love to rewatch our favourite shows with reactors who perhaps haven’t been introduced to certain types of British comedy before. Over the decades, British comedy writers have mainly portrayed their characters as failures in life. Men and women who can’t get a break in love or at work (or both). British comedy characters aren’t the wisecracking heroes who end up getting the girl like you see in so many US sitcoms. As TV watchers, we love to sit and squirm at other people’s awkwardness and misfortune. We love to celebrate failure in the UK, which is really kind of strange when you sit and think about it!

Andrew Roberts

I really recommend TaskMaster too, if you can get past the copyright issues. Not enough reactors are reacting to it. The TaskMaster himself is Greg Davies of Inbetweeners head teacher fame, while his put-upon and bullied supposed sidekick, Alex Horne, is actually the show's creator. It's a game show and can be reacted to one task at a time, which I believe helps with copyright. 5 comedians take part in absurd or ridiculous tasks set by the TaskMaster. Most clips on YouTube miss the reaction back in the theatre where Greg Davies awards points, so on the whole those are best avoided. It's been running for about 10 series now and was successful they even took it over to the US, where it was ruined, of course! For a taste of how brilliantly funny it can be, you can do no better than a task from the second series; that series is one of the best ( the 5 comedians change each series). https://youtu.be/MelvH3EMGR0?si=_ssKXrcuvQEJfW27

Everyone else has cleared up about the POV stuff but they do slowly move away from it as the seasons go on slightly. Also it’s hilarious but very British comedy and some things certainly in the first episode I can imagine being very hard for someone not English to watch but if you give it a go you will fall in love with it

Max Elliott

i have! i can look at that one as well

Klaire Green

oooohhhhhhhh i see thats really cool, ill hold out for them to get the hang of it! and im glad, i have watched bits of others reactors and i just feel like so many of them just talk to talk, which isnt necessarily bad but i just cant do it myself it feels so disingenuous lol

Klaire Green

oh okay good to know thank you!!!

Klaire Green

ahhhh i recognize her from midsommar murders i think

Klaire Green

ill look forward to those episodes then :)

Klaire Green

this is so cool, was this a common thing in the UK to do with shows? i cant think of any US shows that do this but i dont watch too much tv

Klaire Green

aaaaahhh i see thats very interesting i can understand how the actors were having to adjust to that

Klaire Green

Also, Mark's not a paedo:)

Jay

One thing to keep in mind, every shot is a character's POV so the actors are often doing the opposite of what they usually do (acting directly into the camera). David Mitchell (Mark) has said it took a while to get comfortable with it. Combined with the fact most sitcoms are finding their feet early on, there is definitely something off about the early Peep Show episodes. But once it gets going, I think it's one of the funniest shows ever. David Mitchell is so fucking good/funny, he was born to play Mark Corrigan. Having said all that, if you finish S01 and don't feel any more positive about it, maybe it's not for you. I'd say episodes 3 and 4 are by far the best in S01.

Jay

In case you didn't twig it, every shot is POV, which can be a bit disconcerting until you get used to it. Usually it's the main characters' POV, but sometimes the POV is from some random person in the street, or across the room. And no, Mark is not a pedo - it's just the kids winding him up!

BobSandwiches

The woman you recognised on the bus at the start is Olivia Colman. In this, her career was just starting out; now she's an Oscar winner and one of the most acclaimed British actors. Your reaction was fine. Episodes 3 and 4 are probably the best of this first series.

Joshua

@Klaire: the woman who sat on his hand on the bus is Olivia Coleman, Oscar winning actress, who started out appearing on comedy shows with Mitchell and Webb!

Eddy

Fantastic and exciting news to see you react to Peep Show, Klaire! It's probably my all-time favourite comedy and I was born in 1962, so I've seen a lot. Please give it some time though, because by most people's reckoning it improves over time as you get to know the characters and only really kicks into gear in Season 2.

Eddy

Peep Show is a pleasant surprise! It's one of my favourite British sitcoms. Series 1 can be a bit rough (they were still figuring stuff out early on), so I hope you stick with it. The show peaks, for me, around series 3 and 4.

Joshua

Blackadder is a comedy tv show from the 80's starring Rowan Atkinson (you might know him as Mr Bean). If you ever plan to react to some older UK shows that would be a great choice. There's 4 series, plus a few specials and each one is set in a different time period so they're all stand-alone. Most people recommend skipping the first series as it's by far the weakest one, although there are some good parts.

Tiberius

He's not a pedo lol

Dan Gleaballs

It's filmed like "point of view" style but it takes them until series two or three to perfect it.

Hurrakan

Tesco Express has stopped stocking Alpen here, pushing it's sugar free Muesli instead. Holding us to ransom...😒😂

Steve with a beard

It's filmed like that because it's point-of-view. Every camera shot is inside someone's head, and while in their head, you can hear their inner thoughts. Hence "Peep Show". It's British, so it doesn't have a laughter track and doesn't prompt you when to laugh, but almost everything is a joke, once you get on its level. There aren't any punchlines, it's all a little bit subtle, but very funny once you get on their wavelength and get a few episodes in. This first episode is a bit like a pilot - the characters aren't quite in their vibe yet - it gets steadily better. Every person in it, main characters and side characters ALL have a screw loose. They all have un-resolved issues, just below the surface. Your reactions are ace. Above all, they are honest reactions. You probably react less than others, and that probably doesn't help getting through copyright (if you had more frequent pauses and rewinds and talky-bits, you would probably get through copyright much easier). But if you do add more reaction/interaction to your videos, do keep it all genuine and honest, because there's nothing worse than fake, over-reacting reactions. But you're doing perfect so far!

Alan

He's not a pedo, he's just scared of the kids in case they bully him 😂

Aye Ready

No he's not a pedo,he was just scared of those kids because they were terrorising him.

Matthew Roberts

Blackadder is a British sitcom starring Rowan Atkinson (Mr. Bean), Hugh Laurie (Dr. House) and Stephen Fry (Host of QI). If you're a Friends fan then Hugh Laurie is the British guy on the plane who tells Rachel off for ruining Ross and Emily's wedding

Aye Ready

Like everyone else is saying, it’s gets so good, my fav comedy. It gets more cringey , more than Inbetweeners I would say, well written too

Cem

ever hear of Would I Lie to You? It's a hilarious game show in the UK

just conor

It does take a little getting used to the way its filmed but its worth sticking with it, its a great show with lots of cringe lol...

Steven Sjosten

Its very good. Stick with it please

Aye Ready

From the second series onwards it gets better and better once you get to know the different characters.

Matthew Roberts

Peep Show - NICE!!!

Alan

Brilliant, one of my favourite comedy's

Charlie Whatling
